MRI Biopsy Do-able
Mom=breast cancer/BRCA2, 1st cousin 39yrs breast cancer/BRCA2...I'm 43yrs/BRCA2. Oct 13th mri results showed 5mm suspicious spot. 2 weeks later, into the cancer center for ultrasound and additional mammo (5mm could not be detected by these). Radiologist & cancer doc recommend mri core biopsy.
Core biopsy was a breeze. I'm small breasted and was concerned about puncturing a lung, etc...but the radiologist explained and answered every question of mine. It did NOT hurt one iota. The shot stings and you feel tugging- but you should not feel pain. The MRI machine is loud, his needle makes a sound, but other than that...it's doable. Before this procedure, I googled and it scared me to pieces. I hope that my experience encourages anyone who is up for the biopsy. Oh, they took approx 12 samples- which I was kind of surprised (thinking only 3-5) but good they're thorough.
48hours later, kind of sore...but taking it easy. Called w/results...at this time I have a reprieve as it was not malignant. With fam history...I think my doc & the radiologist were both surprised. Be vigilant, be prepared, but don't be afraid. You can do anything if you're not afraid.
Memorize this verse:
"For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
2Tim 1:7

I'm surprised they could take 12 samples out of an area that small! Did they keep missing? My core biopsy didn't hurt because I got frozen, but he only had to go in three times. It came back "inconclusive" so I had to have an excisional biopsy.
I'm happy for you for being B9.
I bet the "2Tim 1:7" you quote above didn't have cancer....

Hi barbe,
He did have to readjust one time...at which I asked for a discount on the procedure!
They said 10-12 samples was avg (for them). It was gross to see the samples in the dish, ugh.
Sorry if I offended w/the Bible verse. God gives me great comfort & only meant to share, not preach. Chocolate is a good 2nd
enjoy your weekend barbe in barrie!

You certainly didn't offend...I have a warped sense of humour!

hee,hee...me too! I asked the hub how he would feel if his penis was clamped down, shot, and then stabbed 12 times? Probably wicked of me, we tolerate pain better than those big babies!
