Weakly ER positive and Tamoxifen

    Hi ladies,

I finished Herceptin in Sept. 09 and am deciding whether to take Tamoxifen or not.  I am weakly ER positive.  My Allred score was 4 out of 8 or 9...so I would benefit from this drug only 4-6%.  My DNA CYP2D6 results said I am a normal metabolizer for Tamoxifen which does not change my 4-6% possible response.  Since all women, whether weakly ER positive or strong ER positive are lumped into one category in the Tamoxifen tests there is no way to tell how it benefits specifically weakly ER positive women.

Is there anyone out there with my situation?  I hate the idea of suffering through Tamoxifen side effects of which I have heard are numerous if it doesn't do anything for me.  My onc has left the decision up to me (thanks, Doc!).  I also find it curious that the pill is 20 mg and not weight specific.....so a heavy woman gets the same dose as a petite one.

I would just like to hear from any of you who have/are taking Tamoxifen, and what your experience has been.  I didn't do well with Arimidex and was on it for a month.  Felt nauseated the whole time.

    Thank,

    Tucker
