ok I'm going to make this as short as possible. I'm 24...mother of 3...found a palpable mass in &ug...had it removed on oct. 7th...went through all the usual differant docs and scans..nothing showed but removed it anyway to be sure. Results were benign. Ok so fast forward to now. A week ago I noticed the area that was excised is now very hard, the skin above that area is gathered or wrinkled (sorry best I can do to explain) the area is somewhat bruised...ok so today I notice that my areola on the affected breast is differant its more wide than round and the bottom part is pulled up or gathered...so it doesn't look like a perfect circle anymore. I experience random shooting pains that go as quickly as they come...not too often tho...and occasionally I've experienced itching. My concern is that I'm not sure if this is due to the excision or if it is just something totally differant (ibc?) that is just showing signs after surgery? I have see the doc twice and he said it looks good...I asked about the gathering...he said that would go away...yet nobody else has ever seemed to have this post bx. Is he looking over something? What can I do? Should I be more concerned? Should I wait to see other signs? O and also my entire areola-nipple sits higher than my other breast...it almost looks as if my breast was lifted during the bx...please any insight would be helpful at this point.

I'm not sure what "bump for ibc ladies" means.

    Jalmom--

That just means I am "bumping up" your post to appear higher on the pages, so other ladies with IBC can see your post and coomment.

    Jalmom:

Some times the biopsies for IBC will come back B9.  I would seek a second opinion regarding the area that you are talking about and if needed a third or fourth.  Don't stop until you feel comfortable with the dx.   The first question I would ask the second opinion doc is if he/she has every heard of IBC.  There are so many doctors that have never heard of it let alone seen it.

I personally did not have what you are describing however with IBC no one really knows what all the symptoms are.  I had none of the symptoms that are listed for IBC.

    Hey Jalmom09,

It's most likely scar tissue and will dissipate with time.  If the doc isn't worried, then it's likely just the action that your tissue is taking because it was traumatized by the bx. Seems to me that the closer to the nipple they cut and remove tissue, the nipple gets really pissed off and the scar, or site can swell up and when the swelling goes down you have sorta saggy skin there and it hardens up like a scab, only on the inside.

My surgeon said to apply soothing lotion several times a day and massage that area so it helps the tissues get blood which helps healing and the firmness should slowly go away.

Let us know if it gets any worse or you see discharge or the spot gets red or enlarges.

Sorry you had to have that. SUX, yes? Specially the part where they DONT ANSWER your questions. Nothing pisses me off more than to be blown off when I'm asking legitimate questions.

This is probably just post-surgical healing.  If you are still concerned, ask the doctor to have the your slides reviewed at a major cancer center.  Do not be afraid to ask for the review.  You need to put your mind at ease.  Did you use a breast surgeon or a general surgeon?
