Got call from oncotype today, telling me if my insurance does not pay they will do the appeal for me, and discount the test. They even gave me information about qualifying for payment assistance.

What a total and complete contrast to everything else I have experienced!

I wish more healthcare companies took such a patient friendly approach, it was the first time anybody has shown any concern about the financial impact of having cancer.

I was pretty impressed with them too.  When my insurance co balked at paying for my second oncotype test, despite the fact that it was authorized, I got a call from Genomic Health.  They told me what as going on and that they were appealing the decision.  If a second appeal was required they would let me know.  As it turns out, the second appeal was not required.

i agree, they were so friendly and proactively helpful!  My insurance did cover it.  I was waiting for my oncotype score right around Christmas..  I called them on 12/26 and they told me that it had been sent to my cancer center and was received, so my oncologist had the results.  Of course my oncologist was on holiday until January 5th but I was able to plead over the phone with the oncology nurse to give me the # -no interpretation, and she did.  It gave me so much peace to know my score - even though it was in the dreaded gray area.
