hello to all,

I am a 12 year survivor of Invasive DC with 2 lymph nodes involved  which was at the age of 29..  I had a modify rad. mastectomy to the right side and 6 months of chemo.  Two weeks ago at the ripe age of 42 I go to my yearly mammo and got the call we never want to hear.....Your mammo is abnormal.  The tests and biopsy were run and now on the left breast is DCIS grade 3 with comadeo necrosis, er-/pr- hormome receptors (which was the same 12 years ago about er-).  So, with that hx I am wondering besides taking off the left breast and having reconstruction is there any other tx recommended?

Sorry for your recurrence news!  What do your doctors say about recommended treatment?  Are you definitely planning on mx with reconstruction, or are you wondering about other treatments in addition to that?

Sorry you are going through this a second time.  I know exactly how you felt when you got that call.  I had 13 years between DX.  I was 35 the first time around in 1993 with a reoccurrence in 2006.  What I can tell you is that things have change since your first DX.  There are more weapons in the arsenal now.  This is apparently not a reoccurrence but a new primary.  Different type, different breast.  I hope that will be in your favor.  That would be my first question for your Dr.

You've done all this before and I know you don't want to do it again but, you can.  Re-educate yourself, call on the wisdom learned from your first time through, put on your full body armor and fight like a girl.
