the wheelchairs just went by
Ok, this is a little off topic, but I live along the route of the NY marathon, and the first wheel chair competitors just went by.
It is interesting how going though this has given me a much deeper sense of empathy for anyone dealing with a disability or illness.
I am still recovering from surgery so I can't cheer as much this year, I usually bang pots and pans.

we actually had a group of supporters dressed in pink cheering for a breast cancer survivor who was running....that was nice!

Suz, one of my May '08 chemo sisters is running. I checked the marathon website a few minutes ago, and it said she is 23+ miles from the start ... which I guess means she isn't very far from the finish line!

otter that is so cool....I am actually at Mile 17.
Wonder if that was the lady I saw earlier, her people had pink shirts with a pink ribbon right in the center.
Funny how I am looking for bc people everywhere now.

Suz, I too was at Mile 17 yesterday. My best friend ran. I could not let her down and not show. Although my anxiety level is high as I start chemo today. IT was so inspiring to be there and see everyone run no matter WHAT! I missed my friend at Mile 17 and then went to Mile 25 ~ and SAW her. She came running over and hugged me... I was crying my eyes out at how amazing she is.
