Gift for My PS

Hello
I wanted to ask this question here for some different input. Im at the end of my Journey and have my tatoo's scheduled for Dec 11th. I wanted to pick something up for my Ps. He has been wonderful through my whole ordeal and i feel blessed i was in such good hands. Would a good bottle of wine with a thank you note be appropriate? Has anyone done anything else? or have any suggestions? My husband is a dentist and once in a while a patient will give him a nice bottle of wine and he thinks thats what we should give...would love to hear your opinions.

jondy ~ I don't have an answer, but I've recently wondered the same thing. I'll be interested to hear what others have done. And I've also wondered about my BS and my PS's assistant/scheduler. Both have been so wonderful, but I haven't known what, if anything, would be appropriate to do to let them know how appreciative I am and much I value them. Deanna

I make jewelry when I have time and inspiration. I made my PS a necklace with colors and charms that remind her of a special place. She's the only doctor I've given a gift to before.

Hi all. I have given gifts to my oncologist and his staff and my BS and his staff after what I considered was the "end" of their active treatment of me. I had chemo first and when I had my last chemo I ordered pink roses and gave one to each of the ladies on his staff from the receptionist to the chemo nurses. I had the florist wrap each of them individually and she put pretty pink bows on them. I also gave my oncologist a coffee mug with an inscription on it. I bought a bunch of pink ribbon pins and key chains and gave them to the nurses with the flowers. Same thing for my Breast Surgeon and his staff except I gave him a bottle of champagne (pink but that was just a coincidence as it was a brut rose' that I really like) and I did not do the flowers and his staff is much smaller so I gave them each a card and a pin or key chain. The breast nurse educator I gave a necklace that had a pink circle. She talked me through many tearful phone calls. It may sound like I spent a lot but I did not at all. I went to a store that had all of their breast cancer items on sale and cleaned them out so that I would have a little something for everyone. I have been wondering about my PS because I am about to do my exchange in December and I really do not know many of his staff because I see him at a small satellite office as his real office is two hours away. I think a bottle of wine would be great and as he is not so closely connected to breast cancer as the rest I think I will skip all of the pink. I think it is very thoughtful of you to even be thinking about this and a bottle of wine would be very appropriate. Especially if it a favorite of yours. I can tell you that the gifts that we gave to the other doctors and their staffs were very appreciated and they did not act like it was not appropriate. A token of your appreciation for great care or a job well done is always nice. Take care everyone.

NeNe and anne thank you so much..brilliant ideas and so thoughtful..i think thats the kind of ideas im looking for ..something that means something with some thought behind it..thank you for sharing!

When my med onc had a baby, I bought a book for him. She seemed very appreciative. I think it's the thought that counts when we do something for our docs.

Send a Candy Bouquet. I have plans to do this very soon to my PS. I had a Reduction/ Lift to my good side... he did an amazing job for only being able to work on the one good boob to match to the other one
Had the surgery in July .... had the general follow-ups, I will see him again end of December.
I learned from his nurse that he loves candy..... after telling her that I make candy bouquets
as a stay at home type of job .......

I think there was a thread on this when I was fairly new on here. I will try to find it and "bump" it.
I have often wondered about this and I have on occasion brought boxes of treats from a good bakery to my PS's office. I also make it a point to express my heartfelt thanks verbally from time to time for their compassion and support in addition to their medical care. Still, at some point, I will want to do something more. I have thought of plants or inspirational books for the office, but I haven't quite hit on it.

I made paintings for both my BS and my main nurse who talked me through some freak outs. They were very appreciative!!! I used pink which I never use to push myself. I plan on giving more to the radiation and medical departments as I meet them
