Hi, just want to ask if what you guys think of these symptoms: first, fairly mild rash between breasts, then  two days later redder rash on lower half of right breast, then next day stabbing pain started in breast, and its tender, even where there isn't any redness.

Went to doctor, asked if could be IBC, he looked at me like I was crazy, said it was dermatitis, but after using cream for four days, no difference. Would really appreciate if anyone could tell me if they've had something similar, especially about exact location of rash. Thank you, and best wishes.

My rash was across the top of my breast above the nipple mostly but an IBC rash can be anywhere.  Do you have any swelling?  Is it warm?  Do you have orange peel-like skin (kind of like enlarged pores) or any other symptoms?  So what if the doctor looked at you like you were crazy.  If it isn't getting better then you have to continue to pursue what it is.  Better safe than sorry.  If no improvement and especially if you have some of the other symptoms, make them do a punch biopsy sooner rather than later.

Thanks for replying Faith316. There aren't other symptoms, just pain, strange, but I'll try to follow your advice and get a biopsy. Good luck:)

I second the need for a skin biopsy....followed if needed by seeing an IBC specialist without messing around with doctors that don't know that the rate of IBC cases is rising......Which they seem to be in the United States and the world.

There are clinics opening up around the U.S. dealing specifically with Inflammatory Breast Cancer, so we are getting there, slowly but surely.

I was diagnosed with inflammitory breast cancer on October 7, 2009. When all the results came back it is now viewed as invasive ductual carsinoma. That means it has broken free from the milk duct and is spreading. My systems were..the breast started turning red, had heat, nipple started sinking in(it always stuck out before),gained weight(boob only, it became heavy), if you slightly pushed in on it, you could see where every hair was attached..it had little dimples all over it. I also had this very horrible, knife shooting pain, that went from the nipple straight through to the back side of the boob.

I had similar symptoms last year. Woke up with a small rash on left breast and a little in between breasts. The rash was itchy and spread slowly. But I developed serious burning and pain in the breast. There was also some enlargement of the breast. Went to see a breast surgeon. Mammo/Ultasound normal. She started me on antibiotics and gave me a topical cream as well as 800 mg ibuprofen. Long story short, I had a yeast infection. Had no idea you could get one on the skin. It took many weeks for the pain and burning to subside but the rash was noticably better in a week. So I didn't have a biopsy. I've been fine since then.

I hope this brings some comfort that not all symptoms come with a dx.
