    These are my favorite hats.  They look so much better in person and on, I think I am going to keep the one in the middle it is copper and black for me this winter.

    Hi Spar, I am having surgery on Dec 16th. Not looking forward to it but it is a must. I know youwill all be there with me..love ya!!

    Candie, bless you girl, I will be there with you for sure.  Do you have someone to help you after the surgery?  I will be praying for you before and after.

    It seems people are slowing down with their crafts.  I hope with old man winter more people will post the crafts they are doing.  Hope you all have a crafty halloween.

    Spar, I will be going to a rehab for about 5-7 days after surgery. Hoping to get out og there on Christmas Eve!!

    Great big hugs candie!...What surgery are you having?......I will be one of the pink elephants in the OR!...

    Spar I am here...Home safely....Oh my, what a trip!....I wound up going to my nieces home in Tway, Ky...It is way back in the mountains near Martins Fork Lake and is on a windy scary road....We went up after dark so of course I was really nervous....I made it to my nieces home safely but almost went over the edge at her drive.....It has a deep ditch on either side with a creek and I almost went in when I turned into her drive...Mind you it is very dark with absolutely no street lights and big hills all around and cloudy to boot!.....But we had such fun and the time went way too fast and my sister Fran is doing well..I still worry about her as she is still way too thin...I could actually feel her spine even more this time.......Scares me to think about her cause she reminds me of our mother.......BUT other than that small downside we had great fun.........Hope you all are doing well and welcome to all the newbies!

    Candy, oh I do so hope you are getting around by Christmas.  I will be the big pink elephant with freckles and a green surgical mask on.

    Holly, glad you had fun..sounds like that driveway in itself was an adventure!! I am having hip replacement on Dec.16...yes, you all better be there..I hate having surgery..I am scared and a big baby!!

    Candie - I had a shoulder replacement.  I am still doing physical therapy.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

    Spar - I haven't done any crafts for a while and I need to get back into it - it is the only creative thing I do.  The carpal tunnel in my hands make fine movements a little iffy.  I tried crochet and it was brutal - my hands were not cooperating at all.

    kmc, a shoulder replacement..wow..didn't even know they can do that! My DD has carpul tunnel and she uses these wrist things sold in craft stores for those who do lots of crafts. They help her somewhat. Have you tried them?

    Candie - morning - between the shoulder exercises and remembering to take the evening pile of pills, I keep forgetting to put the wrist braces on but I think I will place them on my bed so I don't "conveniantly" forget them tonight!  And don't worry, we will all be at the hospital with you.  I don't knoiw anyone who enjoys surgery except those suffering from Munchhower's Syndrome!

    Today, I finally got the hats for childrens oncology ward boxed up and ready to mail in the morning.  I am done with hats for a while and am making a scarf right now.  I though I started an afghan but it is going to end up being a shawl due to my mistake on measurements.  DH says hey, it will make a great shawl.

    I bought a straight purple knifty-knitter this week (on sale for $4.00) and am trying to figure it out. I have a skein of bulky weight 'Cloud Soft' yarn that I tried crocheting but it is 'bumpy' and difficult to crochet. I am trying it on the knitter to make me a scarf. It seems to be going well. I am not doing the double knit but the single knit (only using one side of the loom).

    Sheila, I have made several scarves with the knifty knitter and used both the loop around method ( like a figure 8 around each peg) , which gives a loose, sort of chain link pattern.  If you do the basic, use both sides, then a zig zag back and forth, it gives a closer woven or more "knitted" appearance.  Of course you have to do several rows before you see the pattern develop.   

    As an added note: The first practice session I did, I got several varying patterns -- few rows of chain link and then a few rows of close pattern.   What did I do wrong?   I changed how I removed the loops when I put it down and then began again.    Sometimes I removed all on one side, then all on the other side.  Other times I removed them alternatively one side, then the other.   It does make a difference in the pattern.

    I looked up the web site again and they don't give instructions but I think I can figure it out - I think they are actually tree ornaments but I will make them into Christmas cards.

    Lefty, I have been having a blast playing with the plastic canvas stuff, bought a needle and some stars and sheets of the plastic.  Have made a coupe of snowflakes, am going to spray them with glue and sprinkle glitter over them.  It is a lot of fun.

    Found a woman at church that is going to teach me to crochet.  I don't do well with youtube or instructions,need hands on training. LOL

    spar, I am glad you caught onto the plastic canvas.   i find it is a pretty "cheap" craft as you do not need lots of any one color of yarn so matching dye lots isn't necessary.   They have some glittery yarn around Christmas time - which should be about now.   I have bought the bulk yarn bundles at a much cheaper price than "regular" bundles.   And I keep most of my yarn in a suitcase in the closet or under the bed - instead of it sitting there empty !!

    Lefty I think I have gotten the 'knack' of the Kniffty Knitter. I am doing the loop around each peg but getting 2 loops on each peg before I start 'knitting' the third loop over the top 2 loops. It is making a pretty scarf, although it seems to be going slower that crocheting.

    My mind is working on making other designs with the purple loom, maybe even a hat?

    Sheila, you could try using 2 strands of yarn at a time.   Since I have limited hand function, I do not think I could ever learn crochet.   Contrasting colors if you use 2 strands?

    right now I am using a skein of pink 'baby cloud' bulky weight yarn (4) that I had left from another project and it is doing well the way I am working it with the knifty knitter. If I try another yarn I will try with two strands.

    On some of my hats I used 1 strand of plain yarn and 1 strand of eye lash yarn and they turned out beautiful, thick, and warm.  I love the knifty knitter after I got the hang of it, it is a lot faster for me than knitting.  I want one big enough to make an afghan now.

    Keep on crafting.
