Need a family doctor in Ottawa

That's about the size of it! I'm new to the area, don't have a diagnosis, do have a lump and a mammogram report that says I need an ultrasound and no family doctor! If you know of one, please let me know - even if they are not taking on new patients, they might know of a doctor who does.

    Hi Anna -- You could use one of the walk-in clinics to have someone look at it.  You could also check the yellow pages for some of the larger practices and see if they're taking new patients.  I had a friend try to find a new doctor in Ottawa and had a terrible time and ended up in the walkin clinics.  Apparently if you like a doctor in a clinic you can ask for him/her again.

    Hi Konakat, thank you - a friend told me that walk-ins didn't give specialist/test referrals and I just about died of sheer terror. Fortunately, he was misinformed! Still, it feels very weird to be without a family doctor, it's kind of an insane situation that they have gotten so scarce.

    Hi Anna -- I've sent an email to a friend to see if her doc is taking patients.  If she is, I'll PM you the info.  She's in Orleans, a bit of a drive but worth it.  I met her once for laser hair removal (she does it on the side) and she's very nice.  My girlfriend goes to her as do her kids.  Stay tuned...

    Thanks so much! Orleans no problem, I'm having such a hard time finding a doctor, I'm ready to drive to Yukon if that's what it takes. I really appreciate you asking.

    he moved to Ottawa

    you could check .. he is a real gem of a Doctor

    so sorry to lose him

     I am happy to report that I did find a doctor, Dr. Sanouffi at the La Vie Clinic. The clinic is private, but they do offer OHIP covered services. He was very helpful and got me a biopsy appointment right away.
