Lump/neg. nodes/clear margins....Rads necessary???

I would be interested to see if anyone had chemo , lumpectomy with clear margins & no node involvement w/full axillary dissection and chose to NOT have the radiation ??????

    Local recurrence is fairly high with a lumpectomy if you don't have rads. They say it is around 40%. Rads is suppose to bring that down to about 10% - which is about the same as for mastectomy without rads.

    I'm confused about your stats - a 3 cm tumor with negarive lymph nodes is stage IIa.

    Sunris, I notice you are also triple negative. Radiation is proven to reduce risk of recurrence significantly. I had a similar dx a few years ago and chose radiation. It was fine and did its job well.
