Kelly...last year I went to a party as cleopatra...since i didn't have hair..the black wig fit well.  I bought some cheap material and made a circle piece around the neck and a piece that hung down in front...if u look at costumes online it wil give you some ideas.

Went for a nice walk in the woods today...it is sunny and the fall colours are perfect.  Have been DAT with work but enjoy my weekends.  Glad to hear everyone is feeling alright.  I go for a mammo on the 26th and onc appt is in December.  It is amazing how the time has past and that we are all still dealing with different things.  I am having  a lot of pain in my back but I am putting it down to sitting all day at work but I guess I should mention it to the onc to make sure.  I hate that part of always thinking it is the beast.   Anyway,  off to take a bath and relax.  Enjoy your day.

Hi ladies....the weekend has flown by.  I went shopping two days in a row.  Really only bought one thing for myself....a new purse.  My other wasn't holding enough.  I don't know why I seem to have more to carry now, but I do.  Kelly, I have no ideas for halloween costumes for you.  I never dress up.  Guess I just don't get in the spirit very much anymore.  Kids don't trick or treat door to door much anymore around my area.  Too many weirdos.  Wyoming, are you home yet?   Bonnie...how is your trip going?  I guess before I go on a lengthly trip I will have to buy one of those little netbooks.  They are sooooo cute.  My 17" laptop is just too big and the battery life is not great.  Those little netbooks have 6 hours of good battery time.  I am being very lazy tonight and I love it.  Went on walk yesterday but didn't today.  Spent the afternoon at my sons house.  I enjoyed it so much.  He lives in the country and the fall colors and trees were beautiful.  Sun shining just enough to keep you outdoors.  I am like you Karen...I sure enjoyed the out of doors today.  good luck on your mammo...I am sure it will all be fine.  but still stress as we all know and understand.  I am running low on movies....got one left called ImagineThat.  It is Sunday night football though so I don't know we will get too it.  Can't even really find any to put in my Netflix queue.....if anyone has any ideas...let me know.  Take care all....HunkyD

Today was so beautiful here too!  Went to lunch at Rutherford Grill with the ex. and had a great lunch with excellent service. I had sea bass with mashed potatoes, and he had a flatiron steak with heirloom tomatoes topped with a fresh mozzarella and champagne vinaigrette.  We split it so it was Surf and Turf.  Oh we started with their spinach dip, salsa and sour cream....I'm stuffed.

Then we drove out to Lake Hennessey, where I used to kayak, before DX.  I haven't been out there for a year, just couldn't go there, because I missed kayaking so much.  But I feel really good today, and hopefully will be strong enough by Dec. to get my kayak up on my truck( it's 65lbs).  My surgeon's nurse told me to wait until next year, but Dec. is close enough, and we have had some nice days in Dec.

Then I came home, gave Wolfie a haircut and walked him out in the country among the grapevines. Beautiful fall day. I 'm really starting to feel better!!!!!

Hello everyone, I posted a short note while I was in CT but I see it didn't submit. I'm home now. Loved CT. If you like history the New England states are the place to be. Since I teach American History obviously I love history. I had a great time and great food. We went to Mark Twain's and Harriet Beecher Stowe's homes. Both led fascinating lives. I walked all over. My hips and chins are stiff and sore after all the walking and then flying.

Karen, I have pain in my hip but when I move is goes away. I asked my onc and he said if pain didn't go away after moving that it wasn't cancer. Good luck with the mammo.

HunkyD how did your brownies turn out. They sound really good, may have to make some myself.

LeggyJ I haven't tried kayaking. I'm afraid of the water being too close to me while I'm in a confined space. I don't like canoes either. I like boats the bigger the better.

Kelly I think every kid has drank in college just some never got caught. You just love them anyway and hope they don't do it again. For boys it is too costly.

Halloween costume ideas: Pumpkin-take an orange sweatshirt and use black tape to add the face, paint face green for stem. Die (pair of dice0-a cardboard box covered in white butcher paper. Black construction paper for the dots. Cut out arm, legs and head holes. Grapes-blow up either green or purple balloons, pin onto a long white tee-shirt. Hippies always a good idea.

    Have a good week.

Glad you are home Wyoming!  I imagine you are back to work now.  Hope your counts are stable now.  I am so happy to hear of my friends feeling good...ie...Leggy wanting to climb back in the kayack....etc.  I am planning on returning to work full time next week.  I am also very sure that I am going to plan something for myself next year.  I don't care if I go in the hole on leave hours from work or whatever.  That money you save is meant for retirement I know, but I am thinking I want to enjoy some!   I just know, it is time for me to have some me time.  Sounds a little selfish but I think I need that as well as my husband needs some.  Well, time for a little dinner...just wanted to pop in and say hi.  Kelly, good luck on the costume!  HunkyD

Found a cute peacock costume online,  I will wear it with a top under.  Why do you need boobs for all costumes?  Even the ones that are not sexy are still kinda low cut.  I never got around to getting foobs to wear either so I will just make it work.  I also ordered a girl matador costume.  I figure I can use them and then my daughter will have them too.  Plus my secret plan is that then she won't be tempted to buy any of those horrible sexy costumes they market to young girls...

My back is killing me.  I have been running around and not resting as much as I should.  My husband is out of town and I am realizing how much he does now a days.  I am so glad I don't have to go to work.  I don't think I could make it for more than a few hours.  Time to go to bed and count my blessings.  :)   Have a good night everyone.

HunkyD, my hubby is going fishing in Canada next summer. This will be his third time. So my sister whose hubby goes with my hubby are going to have a spa and shopping trip someplace for some good old fashion me time fun. I think now I don't feel as guilty doing things for me as much as I did before DX.

Kelly I love the idea of a peacock. Too bad everything for girls has to be so sexy and low cut. I have a hard time finding shirts that don't show my belly or boobs!!!! Believe me you don't want to see my belly.HAHAHAHA Be sure to rest so you don't hurt so much.

DAT from trip today. It is finally catching up to me. I only have five more days in this quarter so am rushing to finish.

    Have a good Wed. everyone.

Hey, Wyoming....glad to hear someone besides me is getting really into "me time"  I just think some day it would be so neat for all of us to get together.  I think we are all close to the same age group.  I have always worried about taking care of finances and being responsible.  Now I think my responsiblilty is pointing towards a little bit of fun time for myself. Lets all do some things for ourselves....I hope we can justify that in our stubborn heads.....Love ya all....HunkyD

Oh yeah, I agree with the me time!!!  At the end of Oct. work will slow down, and I've saved up my vacation time as well as personal days. So I'm ready to go somewhere, do something. I've been having a craving for New Mexico.  Are we all getting post traumatic syndrome, or going stir crazy?

LeggyJ I think we have a little of both. HunkyD when I start to feel guilty for taking time for my self I remind myself that it is OK. Hubby is going hunting again this weekend. YEAH. I know this sounds bad but I do like my time alone.

Is anyone doing anything special for Halloween? Kelly have you received you costumes yet? at school we are having a costume contest, then going to our senior citizens home and parade and give out masks to the seniors. I haven't decided what I will dress up as yet.

I'm off to get my grand-daughter from daycare. I haven't had the chance to see her since I got back from my trip so we are having a day together.

    Everyone have a good weekend.

I don't dress up for halloween. Guess I'm a stick in the mud.  We used to when we were younger.  Wyoming, have fun with your granddaughter today and enjoy the peace and quiet this weekend.  I am returning to work next week so this is my last weekend of rest.  My brother and his wife are in town so we are having dinner tonight.  That means I am getting into the vino.  Happy Friday to ya all.  HunkyD

Did you find a costume Kelly??

I am not dressing up but a work we will be wearing either all black or black and orange.  Actually a girl is leaving work on Friday sso we are going to some hip place for dinner and dancing.  I think I am the oldest woman going.  I will try to shake my stuff a bit...since there is a fair bit to shake.  Should be interesting.

Wyoming...that sounds so nice....spending time with your granddaughter.  I hope to have a grandchild one day.

LeggyJ...I think me time is so important.  housework and all that is always there so I just leave it for later.  Hoping to head out for a walk in the woods with the dogs today if hubby will wakeup from his nap on the couch.

HunkyD...Make sure you take it slow going back to work and enjoy your weekend of rest.   I think I had a meltdown Thursday.  I left for work at 9 and half way there I realized I start at 9. Don't know what I was thinking...when I got to work I said to the mgr...I dont know why I am late I thought I started at 9:30.  She looks at me and says....are u alright and I just started to cry.  I have no idea why.  The other girl I work with is asking me what happend and I said I think I am cracking.   Anyway, the whole day was weird... anyone have this kind of thing happen.   I remember going downstairs to iron my clothes for work and I cam up an hour later and didn't realize I was late and off I went.   It feels like I was in a blackhole....I must sound like I am nuts but I figured you would all relate in some way.  Could it be the infamous chemobrain??? they talk about.

    Thanks for listenening....Karen

Karen, don't worry to much about the brain change.  I think we have been through so much and off of work so much, that we have really lost not our minds as much as a our sense of priority.  I care about my job, just not in the same way as I did before.  I certainly know my brain doesn't work very well at times. At least you got your work clothes ironed....I would have forgotten to turn on the iron and probably been two hours late.  LOL!  You'll be OK sista.  Have a good time at your dinner party on Friday.  I will be DAT by Friday.  Very windy here today.  Good day to do nothing but sit around.  To lazy to even bake anything.  Take care all...HunkyD

KKing, last week I drove to a place I walk my dog, and forgot my shoes...Lucky for the general public, we remember to put our clothes on, before we head out the door.  Melt downs are a little less frequent for me, but then I'm on Celexa, an anti-depressant.  Now I'm just in a fog, of chemo. brain. I'll be half way through a sentence, and have trouble making sense.

I went to the beach today, it was sunny and windy.  Went to my favorite place for a pint of clam chower, boy was it good, I only shared the crackers with the dog. Just wish I lived closer, it's about an hour drive, one way, now I'm ready for a nap.

    Take care girls

Karen I know what you mean. I think is chemo brain. I went to McDonald's with my daughter and grand-daughter. I had my purse, we decided to move to a different seat. I left my purse at the first seat. When I realized I didn't have my purse it was gone. Went to the counter to ask if anyone had turned in a purse of course no one had. I came home canceled my debit card and the two credit cards I had in there. This morning McDonald's called and they found my purse. Nothing missing. YEAH The whole time I was eating didnt' even think about the purse until we were ready to leave. I always have the feeling of forgetting something, but I don't remember to check things. A major brain fog.

HunkyD take it easy at work tomorrow.

LeggyJ it was snowing and blowing here this morning. The sun did come out to melt most of the snow but it is still cold.

Everyone have a good week. I paid money this week for Cancer month so I get to wear jeans. YEAH.

    Talk to you later,

So it isn't only me.  I guess we are all suffering from the chemo brain syndrome.  Wyoming, I know what you mean about thinking you are missing something all the time.  That is a weird feeling.     Thank you all for your support...it means a lot.Laughing  Well, I am off to bed. Work tomorrow...hope I end up on time.

    HunkyD..take it slow with work.

LeggyJ...that clam chowder sounds good ...I actually haven't tried it.

Have a good week coming up and will talk to you all soon.

Chemo brain hits everyone at some point.  My daughter has missed more soccer this season than she has made.  Sometimes I remember it monday night when we should have been at a 5 pm practice.  I don't want to blame everything on the cancer and treatment so I feel like the coach thinks we are loser parents but I honestly just forget to go.  When I am not seeing someone regularly I really don't like telling them why I am forgetful.  It sounds like you are asking for sympathy.  I am not, I just forget about the cancer too.

Kelly sounds like you had a good time bowling. Our school is going bowling this Thursday in costume. I too don't tell everyone that I have cancer because I don't want the sympathy either.

Karen did you end up to work on time? I hope you laughed about your lateness once you got home.

HunkyD how was your day back at work? Go to bed early and relax.

Does anyone know when Bonnie will be back? I bet she is having a great time.

Ellli are your boys dressing up for Halloween? Send pictures.

Gals,  We got broken into Tuesday(house).  Thieves took 4 guns, 2 laptops, and all my jewelry and some Rx drugs.....we both took the day off yesterday and today and filled out police reports..canceled credit cards, banking info....etc.  Not a good week.  They emptied all my drawers upstairs...I felt violated.  Came home to a shattered, broken back door and knew what had happened.  So...no computers....I did go out and purchase a cheap small netbook today just to be able to change passwords etc.  signed up for identity theft protection and other stuff. Oh...sorry to go on about this but either myself or my husband is going to kill someone.  Now I am scared shitless to even be in the house alone. I had a good crying jag last night....OH, P.S....F'rs took a good pillowcase also to hold all my jewelry and shit from up stairs. Just thought I would let you know that is why you might not hear from me for a bit...I had so much info stored on my laptops it was stupid...taxes....social security numbers...pictures, etc.  I will try to get on when I can..still working with police and insurance people.  Also...I think a big safe might be our next purchase.  HunkyD

HunkyD, so sorry to hear about all your bad luck. I can't imagine having all that personal stuff just gone, maybe they will get them back for you, except then you are not sure what kind of things they know about you.

Just got back last Saturday night from my cruise, think I should have stayed home it was one of those trips if it could go wrong it did.  Anyway I did get to see the panama canal which was very interesting to say the least.  I managed to pick up an eye infection and a bad cough which is probably because my lungs are so tight.

Also had my last treatment of Herceptin (yes!!!!) finally done.

A quick hello to Wyoming, Karen, Kelly and Leggy hope you are all doing well.  Have to go and lye down for a bit talk to you all later

    Everyone take Care

Thanks all for your encouraging words.  I missed 3 days of work from all this and have made myself almost physically sick.  I used to feel safe in my home....now a big securtiy safe is on the to buy next list.  Personal information from file drawers and laptops you can't recover...just get identity theft protection which I have done now.  Jewelry, gone.  My mom, who just turned 94 yesterday said the lord will take care of me.  Guess life isn't always fair.  Hope everyone has a good weekend.  I am going to be thankful to have my husband home all weekend.  I have PS appt Monday, and Onc appt the following week.  I am missing so much work. Enough about my troubles...I also am glad I wasn't home when they broke in.  Bonnie, glad you are done with the herceptin and hope you start feeling better.  XXOO...HunkyD.

Bonnie....that is too bad that your holiday didn't go the way you had hoped but great news about ending the herceptin.

HunkyD  soooooo sorry your house was broken into. Don't worry about bitching to us if it helps go for it. We are here for you no matter what the situation. I can't imagine what it must feel like.I'm so glad that you weren''t home. For the first nine years that I was married to hubby he had to work graveyard and the years I was single I hated being by my self at night. I go to bed early and turn the TV up. I'm usually OK until my dog, Maggie, barks. I would sujerst a large dog  not a yapper like mine. My situation doesn't even come close to yours. I want to make you feel better.

Bonnie, I'm sorry your tri[p didn't go so well. In a few months you will probably laugh about all the troubles. You have to let us in on the problems.  Glad you finished with the herceptin.

On the positive side how was everyones Halloween? My grand babies were so cute. The weather was actually nice here. HunkyD did you even bother?

Hi to Elli, Karen, Kelly and LeggyJ.
