Charity begins at home, you know.  How do you love yourself on a daily basis?

Today it's warm and sunny and the sky is clear, autumn blue with the trees blazing with color.  I went out into the backyard and flopped on my back, no blankie, just me and the grass and rustling leaves, and soaked up the sun for a few minutes.  Smelled the earth and the damp.  Talk about feeling ALIVE!  Just do it.

Love it, Tina!!  I do little things like that every day - go out when the weather is pleasant and sit in the backyard or back porch with a glass of wine and read the paper or a book.  Take an hour for me.  I shop for myself a little more than I used to - ordered some great Smashbox makeup last night from QVC.  Treat myself to pedicures.  Take more walks with my DH.  Hold hands.  LIVE!!

Today was one of those number ten days out of the year--

I walked the dog, came home and threw the ball for her until she could not even breathe anymore, then we walked about the property looking for chipmunk--my dog is a killer, but she can never quite catch those quick little critters. . .

But she sure has a great time chasing them into wood piles, under the AC units, into the gutters. . .after they squeak and howl enough, and her litle stubb butt almost wags itself off, I I tell her to leave it and we go inside to have cookies.

Knocks my socks off just what a little predator that sweet darling can be!!

I hired a dog walker for the rest of my radiation treatment as I am too pooped.  I loved to see their tired happy faces after a 2 hour walk around a beautiful lake.  In November, I'll be back to doing that for them but right now that was a nice break.

My dh and her family (husband & 2 little kids) came for an overnight visit. That's them being good to me. Used disposables for all meals. That's me being good to me.

Please don't tell my s-i-l, who's a big environmentalist, about the disposables. That's all of you being good to me.

I enjoyed a long bike ride with my sweet 8 year old nephew on Saturday. We rode to the local Sonic for lunch (grilled cheese sandwich and french fries) and then back again later for ice cream!! I enjoyed it, but my heart swelled when he just blurted out, "this is the best day of my life"! That just MADE MY DAY!!! He's such a little sweetie too!!

    Great thread by the way!!

Oh, wow, I am allergic to kids but that would have made me goo-goo, too.  What a lovely thing to say and how you must have felt.  Kiss

    Well, it was yesterday, but...

I left work at 4 to make sure I got to my employer's "Corporate Wellness" office (17 blocks north of my office) to finally enroll in one of the exercise classes I've been meaning to take since, oh, 2007...  So I got enrolled, and then bought the suggested exercise mat and hand weights, and TOOK THE CLASS!!!  "Cardiotone and Pilates" -- half hour of nonstop movement, marching, jogging, lunges, jumping jacks, shoulder rolls, Tony-Manero-Saturday-Night-Fever-style movements with the handweights -- then half hour of floor/core/Pilates-style exercising.  You have to understand, the only exercise I've done for YEARS is walking.  I'm 57.  It was a huge deal for me to really start this -- and I did it!

Oh, and I have arthritis, and osteopenia (thanks, Aromasin...), and one knee with no ACL, and today?  I don't even hurt!!!

Now, I don't know how you are not hurting, but I am really, really proud of you for taking the class!    The walking is obviously a great thing for you to be doing, and in NYC I'm unsure how one can live there and Not walk.   LOL

Congrats, I hope you will commit to the class for 8 weeks.  I understand it takes that long to form a "habit", either good or bad----and that sounds like a great habit to have.  Good for you!

Thanks, Dotti!  Tonight my abs are telling me that they had a bit of a workout, but I am so thrilled that I felt good all day!  This is a 6-week class, so I guess I'd better line up another one to make sure I form the habit!

True about NYC and walking!  That's actually something I love about it!
