pain in breast

I was dx'd with LCIS/ADH/ALH this past summer with an excisional biopsy. My surgical oncologist put me on Tamox, but I am seeing an onc this week, and I thought I would wait until I see the onc before taking it.

My question is that I am experiencing pain in my breast. It is not where I had surgery (a 3" scar about my nipple). Rather it is below my nipple in the lower quadrant. I had a needle biopsy on that site in May (same time the calcs were found where I got the excisional).

So, is this something I should be concerned about? Can I wait till I see the onc and ask him to check? Or do I call BS and ask to be seen?

Mary---since your appointment with the oncologist is so soon, I would think it would be OK to wait and see what he says. I remember having twinges of pain in the lumpectomy breast for quite a while.

I agree with awb. I ended up having a biopsy INCHES away from my excisional scar, and it ended up being scar tissue.

I know if I tried to make an appointment with my breast surgeon, it would take (at least) weeks to get in. According to this Mayo site, most breast pain is NOT associated with cancer, and in most cases they can't find a cause. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/breast-pain/DS00760

I too have experienced little twinges now and then after my excisional surgery in April. I have read that is it very common to feel that many weeks after surgery. I do not have them often and I wouldn't really call it "pain" but I do have twinges. Must be common. Wishing you well, I am in the same boat at you:)
