Triple negative taking Her2?

I need some opinions from the TN group. My path report says my Her2 is +1, since everything else is negative that qualifies me as TN my onc. wants a FISH test to look for more Her2, which my insurance company promptly denied. I am already on TAC x6 followed by rads. Her (onc) response to the denial from the insurance is to put me on Herceptin for a year anyway??? Any thoughts on this move?

    Your HER2 status is too critical to do a guessing game.  Push for a clear determination.  Herceptin has consequences and if you aren't going to benefit from it then why take it?  If there is any slight possibility you will benefit from it, then you need to be on it and take it for the right period of time.

    Why can't the onc fight the insurance company by stating your future treatment depends on this testing.  Ms. Bliss' post says it all.  Good luck to you and be your own BEST advocate.  This is your life, not the onc's or the insurance company.
