End of Treatment - Now What?

I posted this in a different thread, but maybe it belongs here.  History:  I was diagnosed in 2004, lumpectomoy, 1 node positive ER/PR+, chemo, radiation.  I ahve completed 2 years on tamoxifen and 2 on Aromasin.  I saw my onc for my annual visit last week and she gave me a prescription for my final year of Aromasin and basically said good-bye - she doesn't need to see me again!  I am worried about recurrence - many ladies have stated that they had no pain and that mets were discovered through routine scans and tests.  What happens if your onc says good luck, hope we never see youagain!  Anybody else experience this?

Unless  there is concrete reason for doing testing such as scans, they are not usually done.  Statistics show that survival time is not affected by routine scans.

So, if you are not going to be having such testing, and you are not on meds prescribed by the ond, there is usually no need to follow up *IF* you are being followed by another competent doctor.  If you are on Aromasin for the final year you are still under her care even if you don't require a visit.  Other than that, there is no reason to return unless you are experiecing symptoms.  This is common protocol.
