Hi Everyone .

I am 15 months out from being diagnosed with ILC. My recent mammogram and ultrasound were

clear. I requested an MRI because of the ILC and it said that there was no malignancy but there

was a 4mm cyst in the upper outer quadrant. Can they tell without a biopsy that it is not anything

to worry about. My GP said everything was good but am due to see my specialist in a few

weeks. I always ask for a copy of my results, that is how I found out about the cyst.

Thankyou in advance. I appreciate it.

Take care

Kathy

On MRI malignancy will appear brighter usually because it is a proliferating lesion, unlike a cyst. I say usually because ILC has been known to be so diffuse and slow growing as to not light up very much.

The following information is from an nih web site.

    http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002918.htm

" If you have a fluid-filled lump (cyst) your doctor will first use a needle and syringe to drain fluid from the cyst.  If the fluid is clear or green, is not bloody,  and the cyst disappears when drained, nothing further needs to be done.  If the fluid is bloody,  your doctor will send it to a laboratory for testing.  If you still have a lump after your doctor drains the cyst, you will need surgery to remove it.  You will also need surgery if the cyst disappears after it is drained but then later returns. My understanding is "cyst" should be fluid which is different from lump (solid)?
