You know it is so frustrating when certain people (won't name names) come onto these boards and you just know that something is not right..........they have say like running sentences........no biography............they don't ever really talk about their breast cancer (if they really have breast cancer)..........you don't know what kind of breast cancer they supposedly have............they have been hanging around for a long time but never offer any help to newbies.........they spew their opinions about everything like politics but really don't have any substance in their remarks......it's all just a bunch of nonsense........causing trouble...........acting like they know everything when in reality they don't know crap...........holy smoke I can't stand "women" (if they even are really women)like that........why don't they just go troll some other website..........Shokk

LOL Madalyn, I guess i am one of those suspicious people cause I.........All the time......I have trouble seeing small print so it helps me keep my sentences straight to begin with.......Also helps me when editing for spelling.......Wink

We had a really nasty troll on chat a couple of weeks ago...Used really foul language and called us all really nasty names.....We got him/her banned several times but the thing is they can always log in under new names because the mods can't really ban a URL............

Will someone please pm me also so that I can steer clear of this party, if in fact, I haven't come across her already.  I already had one eye-opening experience with a poster about 2 months ago, which began freaking me out - don't want to go back to that again.

Ok. I'll share via pm.  I believe the original troll has dropped off the board but if you are concerned I would take a close look at her postings as the writing style is very distinctive.  I believe this person may be suffering from Munchausen syndrome which is manifiested by need to draw attention to themselves by faking an illness for themselves or a family member.

I just found this online and it certainly coincides with the type of postings I was observing.  It's interesting to think this disease may have an online component.

What are the symptoms of Munchausen syndrome?

People with this syndrome deliberately produce or exaggerate symptoms in several ways. They might lie about or fake symptoms, hurt themselves to bring on symptoms, or alter diagnostic tests (such as contaminating a urine sample). Possible warning signs of Munchausen syndrome include the following:

    • Dramatic but inconsistent medical history
    • Unclear symptoms that are not controllable and that become more severe or change once treatment has begun

There is more on this subject, but the above 2 lines are the symptoms that are most prevalent online. Other manifestations of the disease require actual hospital and or doctor visits.

For heaven's sake ... this is getting ridiculous.

Clarice .. you posted (and later deleted) the reference to greeneyeslv in an eariler post.  I read all of her posts in chrono order and she didn't seem to be excessively carrying on about her dx and tx.  Yes, she has a unique style .. kind've over-familiar and simple.  Maybe she sent you and/or some other ladies some very weird PM's or emails that have caused you concern .. but, I have no idea about all that, as I didn't didn't receive any or ever communicate with her.

It's pretty serious to suggest someone has Munchausen's on an open website without even knowing the person.

Maybe I'm way off base in who you were referring to, as the reference to the lady in question is now gone.

I'm really sorry if I've interpreted this all wrong, but this kind of posting makes me very uncomfortable.  I hope someone wasn't run off that needed help .. and if they are a troll, well, they're gone now.

Wow, the thread starts out calling somebody a troll and now this person has been diagnosed with Munchausen syndrome.  Pretty harsh, don't you think?   If you think this person is a troll why don't you just ignore them?

....and I would just like to mention that a while back, when there was all this trash going on about the Stage IV forum, one of the ladies who happened to go to the same clinic as I did, was called a "bitch" by a certain poster and spread this ugliness via pm to her buddies.  It got back to her....she passed away two months later. Be careful what you say about people, it may just come back to bite you in the butt.

Lots of women on these boards(& this thread) haven't filled in their bio's.  And have sentences that run on & on & on.  Does that make them or me....a troll?... lolWink

Medication????............hmmmm...........I know that when I lurked forever before my first posts there was a lady that was having trouble with an ex and didn't want him and his new babe to know what her dx was and any personal information............

I was newly divorced and didn't want my ex to have any information........his new babe was telling my kids and me that she thought me having chemo first before surgery was just stupid.......(she had never heard of that before).........which in the long run has probably saved my life up to this point.....at least has extended it............and even though I like her I didn't need her help in deciding what to do about my breast cancer.....she has never had it.........

Also I didn't want my employer to know even who I was and my dx.......hence I have always just gone by shokk and no personal info..........

Paranoid..........probably........but one thing all of us need to remember this is an open website............(which it needs to be).........so we all need to be careful about how much info we give out because anyone can read it.........Shokk (not my real name)

Do we have a psychiatrist on the board who can Dx people through disjointed emails and suggestions of others?  For once I do not feel like my laughter yoga will ease my stress. I had no bio or DX until today - and why did I do it when my doctors are STILL arguing about my 1991 Stage/Grade DX.  I put it up to protect me from this kind of thread ... not really the place for an ellipsis as I am not omitting words or trailing off or pausing for thought ... there I did it again.  Kinda gets addictive doesn't it?

I'm more of a -- person than a ... person.  Sometimes I look like a troll in the morning -- sometimes it carries over into the afternoon and evening! Wink

I'm sorry but you all are not going to get a bio from me. It is a privacy issue for me.....this is the internet after all.

And back to trolls....I've been called a "troll" on another board because I spoke my mind and stood up for a woman who was obviously being pushed around. The moderators on the board knew what was going on, but decided it would be easier to ban me, than go after the group that was doing the bullying....<sigh>

I've been called a troll many times and I like it.  hehe

Not enough room for my bio, but even though, I'm supersticious and don't want to have to be reminded of all my health issues everytime I log in here.

I can't be bothered to write my bio -- who'd want to read it?  I do like the little signature line though.

I do have a bad habit of using the.....pause.  After checking out this place, I realiazed that I would be taken seriously if I at least had my diagnosis posted, but I like my privacy about everything else...except what I wrtie in posts.

I was able to keep my dx from my exDH, we were going through a divorce at the time, and an EX friend who is a lawyer was the person who told him about it.  I had been going through the CA stuff for 6 months before he found out.  Funny thing, months before he found out, he did compliment me on my new hair cut, I guess my wig was a pretty realistic one.  Or he never paid that much attention when we were living together.

Not a troll, but feel like one sometimes.  Who's that trip-trapping over my bridge?

Have a Red Ribbon on me - y'all. LOL - I have a little green troll with pink hair - it says "I Wuv woo"  One of my employees - the only one who knew out of 120 employess and 60 other staff -  bought it for me the first time around with BC in '91.  I will look for it and post a pic - unless I have passed it on to another Bc sister over the years -  which I tend to do ... illipses on the run ,,, ,,, ,, ,,,  8~D

Unlike Shokk with her ............., I'm more of a three-dot gal.  Too lazy to punctuate properly anymore.

Blue .. I really enjoyed the pics of the troll dolls.  I loved mine .. I had an entire family of them.  What a great memory.

Laugh .. sure hope you can find yours and post a pic!

Geez .. about the bio's, I don't even know if I have one.  I'll have to check!

I changed my mind and expanded my bio, rambled really - as long as my IN Laws don't read it - then they will have to read the truth. Who is worried about trolls when they have in-laws with nice-ish manners but closed hearts. Now I have to go look for that troll - here it is and it also says "I am your best friend". You have to press it's navel -

     Trolls, be gone!

I sincerely apologize for posting my comments in the Stage IV Forum.  When I realized this is not the correct forum to express my thoughts, humor, and ideas, I deleted my words.  I hope everyone is well & happy.  I am sorry.

I never heard of TROLLs until reading about them here.  Thanks for the warning.
