    "Tha Tha-Tha That's All, Folks!"

I'm done, finito, finished with Rads.  I'd like to say it wasn't so bad, but there is no way I'll ever call that freakishly un-natural activity anything but bad.  Like dentists, but worse.  Don't get me wrong, the staff were all super nice.  I took them some muffins.  The treatment went quick, and then I was off that table with a side aerial flip.  The judges in my mind scored the dismount with 10, 10 and 9.5.  I skipped out to the lobby, RANG THE BELL like the building was on fire.  Then, as pre-planned, my sheet music of "The Merry Go Round Broke Down" (more widely known as the LOONEY TUNES theme) was played by the lobby pianist.  More skipping ensued.  (They had warned me that cartwheels were a liability!)  My check-in swipe card was flung heavenward, as I closed with the immortalized lines, "Tha Tha-Tha That's All, Folks!"

*The side aerial is fictional; the skipping all true.

Elimar:  That is soo funny!  We didn't have a bell, but the mold that I had to lay in got placed on the floor so I could stomp it to bits!!!

    Congrats!

Congratulations everyone!!!! Yep, I agree with Alyad...skin got a little worse and now it's getting better. Pretty cool!

Alyad--I am going to the ps end of Oct to discuss getting a TRAM bi-lat mx. I'm a little nervous about the procedure, especially the stomach part and the scars. Do they really cut your stomach muscles and how is that healing? Will I be able to do sit-ups after awhile (not that I do them now, ha ha!) or will my muscles be super compromised? Any thoughts would be great!

Hey everyone. I finish up next Thursday or Friday due to the boosts I have to get. Pray that I will make it. I then start taking tamoxifin for 5 years. I feel so fat(I am fat-100 pounds overweight and I have to get this fat off) I feel rotten. My underarm has a 2-3 inch open raw burn space and it hurts. I hope it will soon heal. I too am big breasted DDD .  I am using the silverdene also, My boosts are going to be near the nipple area because the cancer was almost against the chest wall even though it was a small . I am glad I won't have to raise my right arm and risk getting burned more. Mabe I can join weight watchers or something because I have been diagnosed with anxiety/panic attacks and depression and this extra weight doesn't help. Please pray for me to get thru all this. You all are like family, God Bless

ravenruth:  Losing the weight is a tough battle.  I find that I am either working out and eating good because I know that it helps the fight, but the next week I am eating junk because I feel sorry for myself and think what the hell!  Losing the weight will definitely benefit you in many ways.  Start small and build from there...you can do it!

Your burns will heal, takes time. Use lots of cream... Hang in there!

Hi Ravenruth!  I have to lose weight too...i am about 70 pounds overweight (and cake will ALWAYS be great!).  I am starting TODAY to eat more healthy and exercise consistently, so maybe I should start a new thread or something for accountibility.  Weight Watchers never worked for me.  I think I'll start that thread now!

hey ladies, I had one booster today and 4 more to go & I will be done.Fiday is my last day. Then the dr. told me to wait 2 weeks before I start the Tamoxifin. Pray that this doesn't put additional weight on me. I really do not want it. My right underarm is so sore I could scream. I have also developed this nagging cough, I never had one this long. I wonder if radiation has something to do with it? 2 days last week I threw up. I hope I am not catching something else. I do have sinus problems too. I am praying that we will all reach our goals. God Bless! Any of you all live in MD?

Ravenruth- having a cough with chest wall rads is really common. I do  commonly get chest coughs and I was coughing towards the end of rads.I also developed a sinus infection the day after I finished rads and that knocked me down hard for about a week. And there is also a lot going around right now!

I just took in my rx for tamox  to get filled. I am none too eager to start it. we'll see how it goes. lots of people don't have any se's.

Hi, Ladies.  Did anyone just start their tamox?  I went to LA today and saw my rheumatologist (I have a lupus thing).  Anyway he said I definitely need to start it soon.  He said it works in 2 hours (so I should know how it will make me feel and it's out of your system in 24.  Anyway, don't know if we need to start another thread, but would like to keep up with those just starting so we can walk thru our symptoms, or lack thereof, together.  Anyway, I had him check my estrogen level and give me a vitamin B12 shot (for all the stress I've been under).  I was doing my stretching last Thursday and felt something pop under my rib.  Thing has been killing me.  I wanted him to do an x-ray, but he said no reason.  Nothing can be done.  If it's a cartiledge or tendon it will feel better in a week, if it's a rib probably 2 months.  My gosh, I hope it's not a rib.  I am really tired of things hurting.

Hiya Kawee.  I'm so sorry you're hurting.  My mom has rheumatoid arthritis, and I've had joint pains over the years, but never turned into arth.

I just started Tamoxifen...at first I thought I was having emotional attacks - like being grumpy and crying at the drop of a hat, but that seems to have subsided.  I felt really hot for awhile for a couple days but that wasnt right away...probably about 4 days into it.  But in general, I havent noticed any major changes that I'd worry about yet (only been 10 days).  I'll keep you posted!

I have been on Tamox for a month and a half now.  No real side effects.  Some hot flashes but I had those before too so not sure if it is the tamox or just because.

I started Arimidex 2 weeks after chemo..June 29, then surgery 7/14, and then 35 rads.  The arimidex causes a lot of joint pain.  I've been on it 3 months now and my hands and feet ache a lot in the morning.  Once I get stretched out...it feels fine.  I had carpal tunnel prior to  BC (20 years worth) and have always been able to get the flares under control.  I can't do that now...they flare up all the time and meds/splints don't seem to help.  I see surgeon on Wed. for carpal tunnel surgery 10/29.  I hate to add this to the mix now...but can't stand in much longer!

No info for Tamox but hear alot of the SE's are the same!

Dear Elimar, You are one very funny creative writer!  LOVED your description of your last rad tx and am going to share it with my rad crew!  My last tx is this Thursday and I intend to score a perfect 30 with my side aerial flip!!!! Thanks for the laugh.

I am almost 1 week past my last rad (which the last 5 were boosts) and my inner chest and under arm are severely burnt. A couple of nights ago, there was a bunch of green ooze built up on both of those areas. I called the office yesterday morning they had me come in and said that I didn't look that bad. I personally think it looks awful!! They told me to keep the ooze washed off with liquid antibacterial soap and then slather on Silvadene and then put on Xeroform petroleum dressing over top. I have done all of that and my skin look absolutely raw and red underneath. And it is very painful. My skin did so good during rads, it got bad only after rads are finished. They said that it should look better in a couple of weeks and I am hoping that they are right because it has me a little worried right now.

If at all possible, try to "air" the area (lie down topless).  It did the world of good for me!!! I spent an hour after work "airing" and an hour just before bed "airing" and I was doing much better in a couple days. My burn area was under my breast and I had to lie down in order to get air to it! Just try not to do it too close to the silvadene application so the air will actually hit the skin!  Take care!

    Congrats TITAN and GRAMOF3!!!!

Helen-Jackie - I had some fatigue, but mostly due to the lupus I have.  As far as my breast, I am very fair, and only got a little bit red at the very end.  Even at the Rad place they were all amazed.  Finished Oct 2 and boost area is barely red, the rest of the breast is just as it was before I had rad.  Good Luck!!!!

Hi Jackie.  I had 30 rads including 5 boosts.  I did not get redness until the end and then mostly my nipple area where the boosts were.  I have had itching and peeling since I finished a week ago but it is not too bad.  I use Silvadene and nonstick pads to protect the area.  I started rads on August 25 and started Tamox on August 24.  So far no major se's except for hot flashes that I also had before.  At this point I don't think they are any worse.  Good luck to you.

My next steps are, first of all, waiting for this bad radiation burn to heal and Herceptin every 3 weeks until March 2010 and I will hopefully get my exchange from this uncomfortable expander to implant in 3-6 months. So, I can't wait for March to get here!! I won't be able to take Tamoxifen because I am er- pr-.

Congrats everyone for finishing up - a great big Yeha!  For me I will also be getting Herceptin every 3 weeks until May and tamoxifen starts on Monday.  I see surgeon at the end of the month and I guess that is when I find out about follow up mammo's etc.
