I was almost afraid to open this thread - I thought I would be reading for days to catch up but it wasn't too bad. Glad to be back on the crafters' showcase.
Spar2 - your DH's gift is so lovely - I guess it was just because he was thinking of you which is the bestest reason to give a present.
Sahalie and Jo - I never made an apple face doll but I bought one - an old woman - after several years she turned black and her face was so wrinkled it was depressing to look at it!
-
Spar you have a great talent. Keep up the great work. You are a blessing to me and all.

One of my all time favorite sweaters had small buttons sewn all along the sleeve, from the wrist to the shoulder. You could take a sweatshirt and do the same thing. One row on the "top seam". opposite the sewn seam -- make sense??
OR some decorative trim, ribbon, rick rack... I took a white hooded zip front sweat shirt and put an eyelet trim along the sleeve. Take something very plain and jazz it up.

I saw a sock monkey in a craft store yesterday. It is called Michaels not sure if you have one near you. I am not sure if they had a pattern by it. It was in yarn section.

Jo were you looking for directions to knit the sock monkeys or make them out of the brown with red heel hunters socks?
I found this site that has pretty easy directions for making the monkeys out of the socks.

I wasn't able to use the lap top but I might could tonight. Due to my stupidity, I came close to losing my life. My daughter called and told my husband, I have seen my mom go through a lot of things, and so many surgery's but never have I heard her voice slurred like it is now. It seemed I am not good keeper of my self. If I hurt I took a pain pill or 2 soon as I hurt again I took another pain pill or 2 and who isn't going to hurt trying to walk on crutches to the bath room when there is so much pain underneath the arm, it never healed right and they don't even know if they are going to put a hard cast or knot. At first it was a splint, then a walking shoe, and then I think a walking cast the 19th. I threw my back out and my left hip joint socket I think I was ready to just give up today until I got my homemade card from JO, that just did It I cried and thought if someone that hasn't even met me cares that much, then I just better perk up and get well! My grandkids are counting on me also.
Thank you so much for the prayers, I know they are why I am doing better and feeling better.
I'll just say it I love you all so much. and have been miss you all. You are all like my family also.
-
Spar, you do need to take better care of yourself and allow time for the pain pills to kick in before taking any more!
Sheila

Spar we need you be careful. Praying for you to be painfree and about soon. God bless and hugggssss

the neighbors across the street brought me a walker, and Tom adjusted the crutches so they are not so awful. It was miserable under the lymphoduema arm. We were suppost to go to a dinner party at Dr. Magussens house (he is the plastic surgeon) He puts on quite a dinner with lots of wine flowing for all his bc patients.
Thank you so much for caring. I love all you guys so much. I hope never to break another bone. It hurts and takes forever to heal.
-
Oh good a walker make sure you use it.You will heal soon I am sure. You are a tough lady .
-
SPAR!!! I am so sorry
I wish I lived close to you so I could help you.HUGS!!
-

(((((((((((SPAR)))))))))))) I've been under anesthesia twice in the last week...so I didn't know... sending you healing vibes!
xoxoxo

Spar - please be careful - having to stay off one leg as much as possible I know the pitfalls. Take everything slowly (I couldn't use the opposite arm either because of shoulder replacement!). Let anybody around get you whatever you need. Put someone else in charge of the pain pills. The only thing you should be doing is going to the bathroom and even then ask for help.
The other night I took a sleeping pill (something I never do), fell in the bathroom and cracked the toilet tank! No toilet near my room. My sister suggested putting the potty chair I had downstairs in my bedroom - best idea ever - I only had a few feet to go to the bathroom!
Hugs - get well soon.
-
Spar, just heard about your break today from you...in an email. so sorry I didn't know before this. take it easy and let it all heal properly. Watch those pills, hun!! lol
hugs and prayers
keep craftin, girls

HAVE missed everyone so much, thanks for all the cards, they just perked up my day. Days are reallllllll llllllong right now.by the time I am healed I will have a ton on hats to show you. JO, i want to do some more talking to you about cards but I will email tomorrow about that. Tom, has got my lap top in here I bought it in 2007 but am just using it 2009, It is not so easy when it is not what your use to. I make one trip to the compter you to check my email and if I get on it anymore it has to be the laptop. Keep on crafting. love you all. sherry
-
a short note to Arnie, love my hug and love you too. Are you ok now? What did they have to do? Hope you are feeling ok.
-
Spar - just got through reading your web page. First, gorgeous family, beautiful pictures, awesome crafts. I had to laugh at the scowling penguin saying ho ho ho. You look amazing! How is your leg healing? Great to hear from you. Does diabetes slow down broken bones too or just cuts?
-
From what I understand diabetes slows down all healing. I may be wrong but its a good question to ask Monday.
JO, if I get a cd now I will have to order it online. It is hard to go anywhere, I have to sit on my butt and have my dh wipe each step and then we don't have sidewalk the crutches sinks down in the mud (lots of rain here) So now he just goes does the shopping and all he can do instead of dragging me out.
Have been looking up crafts made with gourds. DH said he would plant me some. Here are a few pictures I found.
You guys keep on crafting, big hugs.
-
I love the pumpkin with the ghost on his head! I wish I had the talent. i have seen some really clever paintings on gourds - here's one!

-
How cool is that. Love it. I like the smooth kind. The bumby kind are kind of creepy. Am still making hats. I need to stop and learn other stuff. Keep on crafting
