My CT scan last December came back with a fatty liver remark.

Neither my Onc or GP even mentioned it, so I assumed it means little.  I'd be interested in knowing what the specialist says.

I have had three CT scans of my right lung for a nodule and my liver shows up as fatty every time.  My internist says this is common, not to worry.  I hope he is right!  Your doctor is probably referring you because you have some pain and he doesn't know what is causing it.  So to be safe he wants you to see a specialist.   Let's hope that by the time you get to see him the discomfort will be gone and you'll wonder what you are doing there!

But good that you have a doctor who takes your complaints seriously!  Sounds like a keeper. :)

    Good luck,

I wasn't able to start on Tamoxifen because my liver was fatty.  My liver enzymes were fine during and for about 2 months after chemo.  Then they doubled.  Did the US and CT route, it showed a fatty liver.  My PCP called me on a Saturday to tell me to go on a very restrictive carbohydrate diet.  I felt since she meant business calling me on a Saturday, I better do something about it.  The next day I started the Zone diet, which I felt was something I could do.  In six weeks I lost 17 pounds, my liver enzymes are back to normal and my glucose is normal.  I am to start on Tamoxifen now.  We will see what happens after I start taking it.

    Sandy Girl,

Did you have a repeat CT scan or anything that looked at your liver the second time around?  I just had my third CT scan of liver and this time the liver is described as not looking fatty.  What changed, I wonder.

OK.I had CMF chemo and then a year of tamoxifen...one or the other or both damaged my

liver and gall bladder...even tho my bloodwork was fine..I had my gall bladder removed even

though the CT scans and U/S said nothing was wrong...but when the surgeon saw it she said

it was really nasty, inflammed and had sludge..my liver never recovered...I switched to arimidex after the one year of tamox..

Check out the side effects of the tamoxifen on line

hopefor30 - I also had/have a fatty liver.  Does anyone know if this is cause by Chemo?  Mine should up fatty before I went on Aromasin.  But for the last two months I have been having some pains around where the liver is so my Onc ordered a CT.  before he ordered it he asked me if I had my pains after I ate a certain food which I don't.  That got me thinking and I have seen no coorealation.  But by accident I noticed when I took Prilosec this went away, which makes no sense what so ever.   All my blood work is completely normal too!  I wouldn't think liver mets could be without funky liver panels right????

SoCalLisa - So both CT and Ultrasound were normal???  I wonder if the sludge was the chemo?  I am not so sure that stuff doesn't hang around way longer than they think!
