Glucosamine and what for joint pain?
I was reading about Glucosamine for joint pain, but taken with something else. Now I can't find the thread. What is it I need to take with it please?
I'm not sure if the pain is a delayed one from chemo (finished 6 months ago) or Herceptin which I'm on now.
Thanks.

I take a small slew of supplements. I do take glucosomine for joint pain (sometimes you find it mixed with chondrontin or MSM) I am not sure which works better, if either. I also take vit d3 and calcium and fish oil and a multivitamin for general health and maitake (mushroom blend) and tumeric for anticancer properties.
I find if I stop taking glucosomine I get very tight and sore but within a week of taking it again it starts improving. Also exercise helps, oddly.
I believe mine is from tamoxifen but who knows!

I take the same kind as Everyminute and started 1 month before taking Arimidex. I have no obvious side effects and the joint pain in my neck and left hip are much better. Not sure if that's what is doing it but I'll continue to take it. There was a piece on the new this morning that advised it as well.

Thanks. I need to know which is the most important chondrontin or
MSM? I seem to recall that one of these made all the difference. -
I have a question. Is there something else I can take for my joints? I have terrible stomach
discomfort when I am on glucosamine. I have had to go off all vitamins and finally I figured it out. Thank goodness - At first I thought it was from the Arimidex.
Thanks so much for any information.

Walking daily helps. My Mom walked for years, a breast cancer survivor and died at 98. But going out and walking daily for a mile or more was her routine. So I have taken it up. I do take G/C though and tumeric plus multivitamin, calcium, fish oils, ground flax. Somewhere in that combo the general inflammation I was experiencing before diagnosis has disappeared. Also sinusitis trouble has disappeared. What did it I am not sure. I also changed my diet completely and stick to small portions of good for you foods.

Studies have shown that Glucosamine is as good or better than ibuprofen ( an anti-inflamatory medicine) in contolling joint pain without the long term harmful effects. Glucosamine in the tablet form is irritant to the stomach which can be reduced if taken after food. Glucosamine in the liquid form does not produce stomach upsets and is better absorbed than tablets. The effect of Glucosamine is increased when combined with Chondratin and MSM. My mother uses one such liquid preparation and is relieved of her joint pain and stiffness.

I take a good quality fish oil every day as well as glucosamine/chrondroitin/msm tablet (3 times a day) and hyaluronic tabs and calcium and vit D3 and for the past week have started taking pure cherry juice. My se's from Arimidex have been minimal and I think the cherry juice is even helping with that. I learned about the cherry juice on another thread.

Thanks girls. Now I recall why I stopped Glucosamine - pretty sure it gave me indigestion. I will try liquid and after food.
I can't take fish oil as it lowers my blood pressure (already low anyway) and I feel faint. However, I've not heard of cherry juice before - will look into that.

Make sure you get pure cherry juice - no additives or fillers - and preferably organic but not necessary. It tastes good and you need only about 4 oz a day. You can buy it in a health food store or your local market if they have a health food section.
