Pregnant!!
Hi Everybody,
I am 4 yrs post dx - Stage 3. We never thought it would happen, but I am pregnant! It was a complete surprise. Even though we were hoping it would happen, I decided last month to try ovulation tests to see whether I am actually ovulating. Followed the instructions, and while I got a very faint line once, the instructions made it clear that if both lines were not equal, you were not ovulating. Major depression set in and some comfort sex and cuddling helped a lot. Fast forward 2+ weeks and I did a hpt as a first step after my period was 3 days late. You can imagine the shock/joy/tears!
While we are over the moon, it brings with it a whole lot of fears and worries. But, I am keeping healthy, excercising daily and praying that it will stay put. Anybody out there who can help me through this? I have put in a call to my onc. to check on routine tests, etc. but have not heard back yet.
I feel so blessed. It feels like I am at last in charge of my body again. And even though I'll be 40 by the time the baby is born, I am really healthier than I have ever been, and plan to keep it that way. Cancer Cancer stay away - forever!

congrats!!!! I personally can't help you - my babies are 17 and 14 but I have a friend who was diagnosed Stage 3 (4 nodes, large tumor and er+) 5 years ago (when she was nursing her son) and 2 years later had another baby.
She is a 5 year survivor now with a 6 year old and 3 year old and very happy :-)
Again - congrats!!!!

Congrats!
What a great way to tell cancer to screw off...lol.

Congrats - I am so happy for you! Gotta love that comfort snuggling.
Wishing you nothing but the best.

well.... I am pregant and going through treatment. So I can't help but I can say it will give you encouragement to fight.
Also, when my husband was diagnosed we were told we would never have children. I am not realy religious but I prayed for a child as a sign he would be ok-and 3 weeks later I was pregant. Docs couldn't believe it and they didn't think I would carry out the pregnancy.
Anyway, let this be your sign of life. Rest and eat right and just know whats meant to be will happen.

Beautiful. Congratulations!

Thank you everybody! Through the last 4 years, most of my mourning has been for the fact that I won't be able to have kids again. And now this!! Truly amazing. My whole family lives with the associated fears, my boy had a nightmare that I die when the baby is born, dh is soooo concerned about every pain. But I welcome all of the normal pregnancy woes - I might be nauseas again, but at least this time I have hair - so I'll take it.
I had 1 x full mastectomy on the ca side and 1 x partial preventative where just the breast tissue was removed. I did not expect to have any breast sensitivity, but for the last week my breasts (both!) have been very "full" and sensitive inside - still can't feel anything on the skin. I am really enjoying it. Up to now my "breasts" has just been there for cosmetic reasons to look normal, but it now feels like part of my body again. An amazing experience....

Congratulations thats fab news, did you have hormone therapy ie tamoxifen or zoladex? i am still waiting for my periods to come back after both of those and am desperate to have children
-
Hi Cloughy. No, I did not do any hormone therapy. My onc wanted to put me on Zoladex but I refused it. How long since you stopped the hormone therapy?
Since the last time I posted - I lost that pregnancy. Was told the state of my eggs after chemo was the cause. I did intensive reiki treatment for a month after the miscarriage, and was pregnant again within weeks. I have now got 5 weeks to go before my little boy will be born, and I thank God every day for this little miracle. I have been closely monitored by my gynie, oncologist, breast surgeon and a fetal specialist, but they all seem happy with the progres of this pregnancy. I have got all my scans scheduled for 8 weeks after the birth and remains confident that all is well and will remain this way.

Hi there, glad to hear the good news and hope everything goes ok with this pregnancy. I finished zoladex six months ago and no periods! i had a blood test last week and my estrogen levels were very low. I cant seem to find anyone in my position to ask the questions - very fustrating. I have posted a request but no-one has replied. Anyway take care and good luck x

Liezel, WOW, having gone through six miscarriages myself (no living children), I went through an emotional roller-coaster reading this thread -- I'm so sorry you lost that pregnancy but ecstatic for you that you're about to have a baby boy!! I'm 39 and feel hopeless many days about becoming a mother, but your story gives me hope. Thanks so much for sharing your story and I wish you a safe and easy delivery! Huge congratulations!
-
How frustrating Cloughy! I lost the previous baby due to low estrogen levels - with this one I went on estrogen the minute I found out. Is there any way that you can go on estrogen now in preparation? I'll also really recommend Reiki treatments. It can't do any damage and you might get an idea of what is happening in your body.
CruchyPoodleMama - Your post made me so sad. Good luck on your journey. I'll suggest Reiki for you as well. It puts you in touch with your body - I felt in control of my body for the first time in 5 years and honestly believe that that is what made my boy such a big and strong fella! Don't give up!

Liezel,
Wow, what a miracle! Congratulations and best wishes on your growing family!
-
Congrats! That is so awesome!!!

In England, they seem to be trying to address the issue of multiple miscarriages. If this link doesn't work, search miscarriage in the guardian.
good luck to all
