Knee Injury or??? Scared

Okay, long story short.I was diagnosed July 2008 and had a very small IDC of 1.7mm and no positive nodes.I had radiation, I am not on any other treatments at this time (please no critcism, that was a long and hard road to come to that!)

I am pretty sure I am just being a freak.The thing is, I do not trust my Doctor.He kept my 1st diagnoses from me for alost 2 weeks until my reg appt with the surgeon.

I fell and bashed my knee very badly on friday.Another Dr saw me, she thought because of the hard fall that we should rule out a fracture.She just said "Knee injury on left knee" on the xray req.She seemed to think we where just ruling it out.This was on Friday at 11:00 am, she said someone would call if it was fractured.No call, so I am doing what she said to do.I said if it was not a fracture when would I find the results from my xray? She said in a week and a half when MY doctor comes back.

I was told by someone that if they see something, they call you right away.The radiologist looks at it, and then a report is typed up if its normal.

Obviously I am NOT normal because I am convinced that the X ray will show mets to the knee.

Just because of my diagnosis and the way it was handled the 1st time,I trust NO ONE.But in your experience if they see something, do they wait a week and a half to call? Is no news really good news? (It was not in my case before and I was blindsided)

In my experience, yes, they would call if it was an area of concern; probably within 2-3 days, sometimes sooner.

With my Onc, it is not a good thing if he calls you in early. If it can wait till the next scheduled appointment I know there is nothing big going on.

QueenK, you should realize that you also have something called canceritis, which most of us get. In other words, everything that happens to you physically screams "mets". It''s normal. I've had problems with recurrent bladder infections for more years than I want to count, but when I got one recently all I could think of was bladder cancer. Well, let's just say that particular bout of "bladder cancer" was cured by 10 days of antibiotics. It sounds silly to someone who's never walked this road but understandable to those of us who have. (and sinus cancer when my allergies flair up and toe cancer when I banged it... I really thought this).

Is there a reason (insurance maybe?) that you're staying with this doc who you don't trust? Maybe it's time to think about switching.

Its not an insurance issue,I am in canada so I have no choice.There is no doctor to switch too! At least in my area LOL

I know,I have been nit picking it all and cancer is always on my mind, always waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak.

I even dread going for that follow up for my knee in a week and a half.I know he will have the xray by then and I am crossing my fingers all will be well.

I wonder if mets to the knee is a common thing? I wonder if I am going crazy with wonder?

In my experience, the ball starts rolling very fast if there is a problem. Try and relax, and good luck!

Queen, I have read that cancer is never below the elbow or knee. I had minor knee surgery 2 years ago. My orthopedic surgeon said he has never seen "knee" cancer as that is what I was afraid of then,also. Yes, you have canceritis, as we all do. I have it very bad. I am having problems with my hip right now. I am hoping it is not mets...so far I have had xrays,MRI and to day a CT scan. My ortho wants to keep digging to be sure, so of course, that scares me too!! Good luck to you. We will be here waiting for your news. Keep in touch. oh,btw, I would think if it was bad they would call u right away!

I feel I just have to clear something up about the above post. Mets can and do happen below the elbow and knee. There are two other women on here (that I know of) that have mets to the ulna and another with mets to the tibia, including myself.

I bashed my knee on the morning of my lumpectomy - I tripped on a sidewalk curb and landed on my left knee. Two days after surgery, I went back to work - my breast and SNB area were fine - (my lump was right under the skin) - a little swelling, no pain. But my knee was throbbing. It is four months later, and my knee is still throbbing. As I am sitting on my couch now, typing to you, I feel like there is a water balloon over my knee cap. I finally made an an appointment with a knee surgeon for end of November (he came highly recommended, so I will wait it out, albeit in pain). Try not to worry until you hear from your doctor.

QueenK, please don't worry. Like I said earlier, I'm positive you would have heard by now if it were suspicious for mets. I just wanted to state that it does happen....sometimes....because I often see people posting that it doesn't, which isn't true.
