Any triple negs ever repeat biopsy to make sure?

Anyone Triple Negatives ever get a repeat biopsy to make sure? Newly diganosed and just wondering if I need to make sure that no mistake was made.  Very new to all of this.

    It's part of a second opinion--which you should do!

    I agree.....A second opinion is always a PLUS!!!  You can't go wrong!  You can actually even request your own tissue and have it sent to the 2nd opinion Doctor......

    I was thiinking about doing this also...but can one lab really screw it up?  How often does this happen?  I f don't even know where my freaking lump is!  I think it is in Massachusetts somewhere.!

    Come to think of it, I suppose I don't know where my is either!!!  I did read in the pathology report that some of it was kept for research purposes.  Well, I hope my tissue can help someone find another answer for us Triple Negatives.  I guess doing research on an actual tumor is better than research on an animal   : )

    My original biopsy came in as triple neg.  When I had my lumpectomy, they did not repeat the receptor testing as they said on the surgical biopsy that it was already done.  My breast surgeon also said it was not necessary. My oncologist said bull spit and had it redone.  She claims that a biopsy specimen is so small and that the larger part of the tumor, removed during the lumpectomy was the only thing to go by. Bless her heart for feeling that way.  When the new pathology report came in, I was still, unfortunately, triple neg.  At least I never had to keep wondering!  If you have any doubt - definitely have it redone.

    My biopsy was triple negative, after my bilat mx, my path came back ER/PR +. Onc said the same as Linda's did about the small bit they get with biopsy vs. the whole tumor.  Best to you.  HUGS, Dawn

    Denrulzbc - thanks for that info, its very interesting. I guess then that they put you on medication after surgery because your status had changed?

    My original biopsy was ER/PR +  (only 5% I believe).  My second was definitely triple negative.  Weird.
