Thinking Out Loud.....

Of course we will we always do. Don't we. Well we try to.....
-
I thought this was funny and wanted to share it with you.
-
Tried to post a picture but it did not work. I can never get them to post. Oh well. Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

I read on a website of a local hospital that a radiation oncologist is convinced that breast cancer is from hormones in food--milk and meat products--and any other form of exogenous hormones, like HRT, the pill and infertility treatments that is causing breast cancer among young women without other risk factors.
Well, I'm not young but did take the pill for about 3 yrs, ortho norvum, I worry about my 33 yr old daughter.
-
Here in Massachusetts, a state with the fifth-highest rate of breast cancer in the country (behind CT, DE, WA and NH.)
-
I did not know Richard Roundtree was dx with BC in 1993, had a double mast and chemo. WOW
-
Deb, I too think my bc was a result of ortho novum and tons of milk. Sounds foolish, but I LOVE milk. Still do. I think there are so many hormones in milk and it may have contributed to my ER+ cancer. NO FAMILY HISTORY and I have 26 female cousins. My point is I have large family and no one else BC. I now drink only organic milk and try to cut back to a gallon a week.
Who is Richard Roundtree?
-
Linda...I dont have a family history of BC. My mother died of lung cancer at 75. she was a smoker. I wasnt on Birth control pills, made me very sick, didnt drink milk, never smoked but still happened. My Doctor calls it ( an accident ). I thought unwanted pregnancies were accidents.
I no longer believe life style is related to BC.
-
Deb...I also worry for my daughters. Her GYN wants a base mammo when she turns 35.
She is 32 now. I wish they did one now. I think they really should change the guideline age from 40 to 35. So many young women in their 30's are dx.
-
I agree, especially with a family history. Is there any way she can get one and the insurance company pay for it? I hadone when I was 25 because of blood coming from my nipple at a routine dr.'s appt. My parents sent me for a mam and ductogram to make sure everything was OK. Insurance said they would not pay for it but my father kept calling and complaining and they eventually paid for it all.
I hope your daughter does self exams, mine tumor was not picked up by mam and I felt it 4 weeks after a mam.
Linda
-
You see because my dx came 8 months after post m. and not a young age. They are not considered very high risk. Mine was discovered from mammo & follow by US.
Finally they started giving heat few hours ago. My whole body is nice and warm.
-
I tell my daughter all the time make sure you do self exam.
-
When I was younger in my 20's I started doing those self exams and ended up at the DR twice in 1 month. I had very cystic (sp) and large breast. Gyn DR was funny, when I was 39 he said to me Dont Panic nothing is wrong but i will order a mammo because there is a large area to examine...
-
I fixed a big dinner. Made chicken and pastry, collards and corn bread . A real southern meal.
-
I had a sandwich earlier now starving. That sounds delicous, love collards and kale
-
Wish you were here I would feed you. Jordan even loved collards. She is not as picky as her sister.
-
I take a raincheck on that. lol
One of my Kids was a picky eater. She practically lived on Pastina. No meat any food that had a dark color she called it kaka
-
I'm surprise that they are not considered high risk. Live and learn. Just make sure we keep checking ourselves.
-
Makes you wonder how many people do not do self exams
-
they will always be high risk but not high enough to have mammos now. I guess instead of 40 they will get their first one age 35.
-
I was told by one dr my dd should have one between 25 or 30
-
I am ashamed to say but I don't. When I do I start feeling things they aren't there.
If did one right now probably will find 6-7 of them. Don't know how they suppose to feel.
I arrange mt DR apps so every 3 months I get an exam. GYN, BS, Onco, and Primary DR.
-
It is scary every bump and twinge we have.
-
They came a long way but.....WE NEED A CURE at least for the next generation
-
yes we sure do. bc and all cancer needs to be gone from the earth
-
to Mars
-
better yet send cancer to hell forever
-
probably the next 100 years they treat cancer like you have the flue. Take this pill for 2 weeks, you'll be fine, or maybe a vaccine
-
Jordan was shopping in craft store with me today. She is like grandma I like this stuff was pink ribbon items.
-
