The arm cuff blood pressure readings are usually fairly accurate, stay away from the wrist ones they seem to be inaccurate more often because movement etc can cause changes in the readings.
It is sunny again here and I am much happier when it is not freezing.
Today I got a call from the radiologist asking me to come in for a consult, don't know who he talked to? Then the oncologists office called and said they had more questions for me, so I don't know what is going on. I have been so sick to my stomach the last two days, really, like I wonder if I have the flu? It is 9pm and I am going to bed now. Sleep tight everyone... Kelly

Unfortunately blood pressure has been very high last 2 days. I have been referred to another doctor. Got to get it down before surgery. I guess it is time to take care of it. Genetically, my probability is high to have it. I have been cleaning house trying to prepare myself for another surgery and being laid up. More to do tomorrow and Sunday. We have movies to watch through the weekend and I will let you know how they were. Leggy, I am sure your checkup with the sampling biopsy was horrible. I have heard it before. I delayed my pap this year because of all the down time with reconstruction. Still have dental work to go too. Eye doctor, etc. I just can't keep up. I would just like to feel good one of these days. Love ya all....HunkyD

Hey Junies.........sorry I haven't checked in for a while.......I have missed you all.......but I just needed a break........I have my last Herceptin on October 14th......then I have to deal with the recon again.

Karen.....How's Brampton?.......hope you are well.
Kelly.....I have no words..........so sorry that you are having to deal with this again.......my thoughts are with you.
Wyoming.....sorry about your daughter......but very happy to hear of you remission!
Stay strong Junies.......I love you all!......sorry if made you worried!

Hey, girlie...nice to hear from you again. We all need a break from things from time to time. I am dependent on all the girls here. So great you are nearing your herceptin finish. I know you will pick up where you left off on the recon, and this time your body will be ready for it. Don't stay away so long. We are all here for one another whether it be trts, recon, family, bitching, etc. I have missed you. I am sure everyone else has also. Hope your family is well. Booooyaaaaaaa! We got another Junie posting again! XXOO HunkyD

Hey Ya'll, My gyno. emailed me before she left for the weekend, and the biospy was free of cancer!!! She said she didn't want me to worry, and everything is OK. Good cause I think I'm done, that was enough, no more.
HunkeyD, hey girlfriend, I'm sending you good thoughts.
-
Great news.....Leggy!!!! Now you can have a stress free weekend. So nice your gyno emailed you. I hope your have a great rest of the weekend! HunkyD
-
Jax good to hear from you. I understand the need for a break. When do get to start with recon?
YEAH!! on the good news LeggyJ. One less thing to worry about.
Kelly keep us posted on what is going on.
HunkyD get that blood pressure down so you don't have to wait on surgery. Is your doctor considering medicine. Did you watch any good movies? I asked my onc last visit about getting a pap. Since I have been having treatment I don't need one. He also said since I have never had an abnormal pap that I really don't need one again.
It has been a busy weekend and I'm DAT so I think I will go to bed early tonight.
Bonnie and Karen, we would like to hear from you.
Have a good week everyone.

Hope your all relaxing...HunkyD you especially!

Thanks so much for all your positive thoughts. I did walk again today with DH and dog. 2 miles. I just hope the blood pressure can drop enough so I don't have to do meds. I will keep ya posted. Kelly, thanks for the info on the BP monitoring cuffs. My husband did get one to go around upper arm. I guess it will be accurate enough anyway to get a baseline, and then follow it until Tuesday. Glad the rest of you are getting along ok. Wyoming, I haven't had a pap since diagnosis. I guess all the rest of the surgeries, etc. has taken precidence over that. I know it is on the list. Last night we watched Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. It was very predictable. I guess good enough to watch the whole thing. We are watching an old one right now with Cameron Diaz called Head Above Water. Just barely started it. I think husband is itching to watch football though. One more week of work for me then HOPEFULLY, I will be able to do my surgery as planned. Leggy, bet you can sleep easy after clean bill of health. I know how important a peaceful nights sleep is. Bonnie, Karen....Happy Sunday, and sleep tight!!!! xxoo HunkyD

Just quick hello to everyone, because this is the third time I have tried posting a message on here and each time I lost it just before I was finished. The first message was quite long, the second of course a little shorter and I think this one will even be smaller don't know what is going on.
HunkyD good luck on your surgery date.
Wyoming don't work to hard.
Kelly hope everything turns out ok for you keeping my fingers crossed and praying a lot.
Leggy glad to hear you were clear nice to hear good news.
Karen you take good care of yourself.
Got to go guys sorry for such a short response, hope you are all doing good and take good care of yourselves
Bonnie
-
LeggyJ I like the picture of you and wolfie.
Bonnie hope you find out what is going on so you can post without problems.
HunkyD with hubby hunting I didn't have any football but I was having withdrawals so on Sunday while I was doing laundry I had a game on as background. Hubby watches college so Sat is usually football day.
Kelly, Jax, Karen, and everyone else have a good Monday.

Hey ladies.......had a hair appointment today.......things are finally getting back to normal with my hair.......texture seems to be getting back to what it was......I posted pics on the hair thread.......not as long as I would expect one year out......but I think the herceptin must be slowing things down.
Happy monday.....glad to be back!......going to Vegas on Friday......can't wait........now if only I could get some of this weight of by then....... 15 pounds in 4 days......what do you think?.....lol
Cheers and hugs to all!
Jax
-
Jax if you find a way to get 15 pounds off in 4 days please let me know because that means that I could get rid of 30 in 8 days lol
Bonnie
-
Oh, wow...funny Bonnie. Made me LOL! Jax....great pictures on hair thread....You look marvelous. I think you did need a rest from the fast pace you were on with the fills. Congrats on nearling completing the Herceptin. That has to be a great feeling. Glad you joined us again. I have doc appt tomorrow. I'll let you know how it was. Starting to get anxious already and that does not help with the blood pressure. Wyoming, hope your DH gets his moose. Wow, that's a once in a liftetime thing. Let us know. Leggy, it is a great pic with you and Wolfie. Hoping you all are doing well...thoughts are with you as always. P.S. Karen, thanks for starting this thread. In two days, Oct. 1, I had my last chemo a year ago. Wow! HunkyD
-
Hi Jax, I'm going to have to look at the hair thread, I've been wondering when my hair on my head will stop looking like pubic hair. It seem's like the pictures I do see, the women have normal looking hair....What happened to me??? I did 8 rounds of TAC, followed by 5 weeks of Rads. and my hair didn't start growing tell after rads. I've been on Tamoxifen since Dec. and my hair is just now filling in at the hair line.
-
Jax and Bonnie Let me know if you get your weight off so I can do the same thing. Then you could publish a new weight loss book.!!!!!! Jax I will go look at your hair pics.
HunkyD I had my last chemo Oct 2nd. Until I had my relapse. But this chemo isn't any where near as hard. WE are still here.
LeggyJ my hair slowed down since August. My last hair cut and color was in August and I'm just now getting roots (if I use a magnifying glass I can seem them). One thing I have learned about my hair is let it do what ever it wants because it won't cooperate with me styling it. HHAHAHA
I agree with HunkyD about Karen starting this thread. It has helped a lot to have some one to vent, talk, @#$#@, and laugh with.
Hubby didn't get his moose this trip but he has until the end of Oct. Had Parent/Teacher conferences tonight so I'm ready for bed. Talk to every one later.

Jax I love your hair. How do you get it to do what you want? Mine isn't quite that long. I'm envious.

It is sunny in Colorado today. We went to Pueblo and Colorado Springs over last weekend to see our son. It was very hot there. I think it will get cold here soon. Ugh
I have some hair it is very frizzy and I have never been good with hair. I went for a haircut, really a shaping, and it looked good when she did it but now it does not look good at all. I keep going in to try again but no luck. It almost makes me wish for my old scarves.
I will try find the hair thread so I can look at everyones pictures. My in laws are coming in about 4 hours so I have to go clean up and plan dinner. By the way someone won a million bucks in the lottery very close to here but it wasn't me so I guess our big get together will have to wait.

Hi all, I am now on high blood pressure medicine. Trying to get it down before surgery scheduled next week. I am pretty anxious about everything, but am hoping things will work out. Doc said it should fall fast and to monitor myself closely. Have to go back for blood work and check Friday. Fall, has definately hit here too Kelly. We are at 49 degrees and the wind is blowing 49mph. It makes me want to stay in my sweats and hibernate. I have a lot to do at work before next week, so I have to drag myself out of bed. Been walking until this weather hit and it has felt pretty good. I am so glad to see everyone posting. I still can't hardly believe what we went through and are going through. It almost seems like a dream sometimes. I can't imagine the fear and torture that our family and friends have gone through also. My hair is a like a creature...it can't be tamed. I need to go for more highlights but I can't see that happening until after surgery. I will post a pic that shows how horrible it is. I definately need some styling. Thinking about you all....XXOO HunkyD

Hello Ladies,
I can't believe that I have stayed gone this long! My "chemo" baby, Eli, is walking everywhere and teething like a crazy man. We are all doing pretty well. I have some suspicious spots on my pelvis but they don't hurt. According to all the experts, bone cancer should hurt so these are probably just my pelvis healing after having the baby.
Sorry I was gone for so long, but I will be around more!
Ellen
-
Ellen glad to hear from you. Just the other day I wondered where you had gone. How old is your "chemo baby" Eli? We all have either spots some where else or pain somewhere.
HunkyD I love your hair. I wish mine would stick up more. I just lays there even with gel. Keep watching that blood pressure. Sometimes mine is too low so that can be a problem too. Hope the medicine works.
Kelly I'm glad some else can go get their hair done then at home can't make it work. Mine always looks the same even when I ask for a new style.
We woke up to snow this morning. Pretty windy today and should have more rain/snow mix. I go in for a massage tomorrow, I'm pretty excited. I have a friend who told me about a acupuncturist and massage therapist combo. I may try to go see her next. It can't hurt. My shoulders are so tight since starting school and working on the computer. Plus I want to pamper myself.
Everyone stay warm.

Hi ya Ellie. Glad to hear you are running after Eli. LOL! Good to hear from you. Wyoming is right....we all have aches and pains. I have been working on my feet for the last two days and am suffering for it. Wind has died down some today but the temp is up to 53. I am not ready for snow! Wyoming...you don't want your hair in the funk mine is in. I just don't have the time to do anything with it in the morning before work, so I shower..put some pomade in it and let er' go. Hopefully after surgery I can go in and get some more highlights and a shape trim. My home blood pressure kit read 111/67 this morning. I think the pills are working, since my bottom number was 100 3 days ago. I thought my boss might have to scrape me off the lab floor today with it that low but I made it. Hopefully when I go to doc tomorrow it will still be down. One more work day this week! Yea! Hope everyone is ready for the weekend. I know I am! Later...HunkyD
-
Hunky what a great photo. I think you look great. Just carry that monkey everywhere so we can recognize you
I have been so stressed out I chewed off all my nails. I can't believe I did that. I can't imagine running after a baby. Ellen you are probably so busy. I watched my partners two kids, 2 and 5, for an hour in the office today and I was wiped out after that. Of course that was probably not the best place for babysitting but mommy had a broken tooth...
I am off to California with some friends tomorrow for the weekend. I am glad to go as my husband is still not really speaking to me. I keep thinking, he will regret this if I die next year, then I just let it go. I hope he bends soon. He is still mad because I won't commit to alternative treatment. I did see the radiologist today and he said we could try radiation again since it can't hurt. I start on Tuesday. I guess I will tell my husband then if he is speaking to me. Oh well It could be worse!! I really will post a photo next week. Have a great weekend. Kelly

Is on the countdown to my cruise to the Panama Canal, only 11 days to go!!
Bonnie
-
Bonnie how exciting. Make sure to take pictures and tell us all about it.
Kelly are you flying to CA? Sounds like fun. Husbands can be so frustrating. When I watch my grandkids I'm exhausted but I love it. When I have one at a time much easier. Mine probably not as busy as the ones you watched. Mine are 23 months and 20 months. They still take naps, so does grandma. LOL
HunkyD YEAH on you blood pressure. How was it today at the doc's? Is everything a go?
Have a good weekend.
Wyoming
Hubby and I will be going to Hartford Ct Oct 13-18th. Has anyone been there? If you have any ideas on what to do let me know We are going on a dinner cruise, Mark Twain's house, and possibly Harriet Beecher Stowe's house. Motel has a spa may get the works. Bonnie I think Panama will be a wee bit warmer. Tomorrow we are going to a Book Festival in Deadwood SD. I hope there will be an author that I have heard of.
-
Bonnie...whoa...sounds like a fun trip. You will have to take pics and let us live it a little vicariously through you. Kelly, hope you have a great time on your outing. I hope things get somewhat more relaxed with you and husband. Don't stress yourself.....your feelings are so important. So amazing how many women on this board want to be heros for their families and friends. I think you need a little time to yourself to be able to fit into the Wonderwoman costume. Good luck with the radiation. Wyoming, the Deadwood trip sounds fun to me. DH and I used to really be fans of the Deadwood series on HBO. The series stopped after the writers strike I guess. Fascinating history. Really showed the reality of it all, GOLD! mud, opiates, chinese whores, disease, and the crooked settling of a town before law came into effect. I have a tee shirt my son brought me from a bar called Saloon # 10. He worked building powerlines somewhere in that area. I don't know if that is where the infamous Wild Bill Hickock got shot down in reality or not. I doubt it cause I think the whole town really burnt down at one point. Don't know..I am rambling because I really like the history in that area. Did some research on it after I started watching the series on HBO. "I WISH I WAS GOING WITH YOU"! How close are you to Deadwood? Hope you have a great time there. Karen, Ellie, Vino...Leggy, Happy weekend to all. P.S. My blood pressure is under control enough for surgery Tuesday. What a relief! Happy Friday Night to all.
-
HunkyD good luck tomorrow. You will be on my mind (sending you good vibes). I live about 90 minutes from Deadwood. And Yes the Saloon #10 is still there. The destroyed a lot of buildings but there are a few originals left. At one time you could get a tour of the underground opium dens and tunnels. About 20 years ago there was a fire in the building where the tours started, many of the tunnels collapsed. So you can no longer tour them. The Adams museum is a great place to see the history of Deadwood. Also the cemetery is fun to walk through. By the way we had a good time. We drove through Spearfish canyon to see the colors which were beautiful.
Kelly how was the trip to CA? How was the weather? What did you do?
Bonnie you and I will be gone about the same time. This week will be busy.
Karen, Ellie, Vino, and LeggyJ what have you been up to?
Wyoming
-
Wyoming, thanks for the good thoughts for tomorrow...means a lot to me. Glad you had fun on your jaunt this weekend. Would have loved to have been with you on that one. Not familiar with Spearfish Canyon but I am sure it was beautiful. To all of you traveling, I hope your are having a great time. Going to keep it short tonight. I have already showered and am in bed. 4:30 will come early for me tomorrow. Talk to ya all later....XXOO HunkyD
-
HunkyD, I know it's to late to wish you well, since your off to bed, but my thoughts are with you!
Sounds like we're all getting busy! Safe travel to those who get away! The weather here has been cool, so my hot flashes are coming in handy. Fall is making it's presents known, with the big harvest moon, over the valley. Some spots, got frost warnings last night, and the grapes are not all in, so vineyards, were bustling at 4 am....This is my favorite time of year, in the Napa Valley, the crush is on...
-
LeggyJ we had 5" of snow Monday night. I think I would rather have had your weather. Sounds wonderful. I love warmer weather but I have lived in this area most of my life, I should be used to it.
Everyone else have a good day.
