Gracie - I take your point about the polite but possibly deranged. It is quite true that prefacing something with sugary words does not reduce the ikpact of thefollow on expressions.
It would be a dull and uninforming world if we all agreed with eachother but I feel that the healthcare thread went totally overboard on the political ranting front. It sort of stopped any possibility of idea swopping without rancour. Consequently I feel that it could have been moderated more actively.
It has been interesting to discover how various systems work, and we could all take bits of eachother's systems as a useful adjunct to our own.
There is no doubt that I have gained an enormous amount of helpful info from the Board (in the info bits) and from fellow posters and for that of course I am grateful.
The idea of having an internal "ignore" button is good. I feel that I have just about worn that button out recently so have approached matters in a different way. There are some people with whom I swop PMs. I particularly appreciate the efforts of those who post info on trials, tests etc.
There is a great deal to applaud and be grateful for here.
Overall for me as an individual, now I probably would not want to be particularly involved in a Board on any regular basis. My usual use of the 'net is frequently work related but other than that, I feel that there is more unpleasantness to be found than I want to deal with. That's just me. Others may feel absolutely differently and obviously do. Which is fine. Some of the UK Boards are over moderated and people get chucked of for swearing, which I think is ludicrous. After all, one can just post and say "less swearing please" if you feel that way.
Disagreeing about a topic is one thing; the bullying a totally different ball game. And that is not restricted to the healthcare debate.
So, a pretty useless post from me!!! I'll replenish my "ignore" button, and continue to enjoy reading "The Crucible".
best to all xxxxxxxxx

I think it is very sad that anyone with breast cancer has been banned from this site. Whether you think you were right or wrong, nothing was ever done to cause permanent banning. Yes we need to take accountability for our actions, instead of putting blame elsewhere, look within ourselves because life is about choices. And for those banned, maybe we made the wrong choices. Seems as though this is a continued problem and will be very hard to fix because of the report this post button. It has changed the climate of this wonderful support board. We are dealing with life and death issues and sometimes our emotions get the best of us. I also believe that before the report this post button was implemented - no one would have been banned. Don't get to come here very often, but saddened by the newest chaos.
Amy is a wonderful person and I have only sadness in my heart to read the latest news about her.
-
Athena now I may be wrong but I don't think Amy had any messages deleted here.....nor was she ever banned from bc.org.............now she did have some issues on another site but she left bc.org I believe on her on.........she did not like the foolishness that was going on here and the way some of her friends were being treated........I think Blah being the main one..........
Also as Blah can agree I don't really feel comfortable talking about Amy here........she is an extremely private person.........I think the prayer threads would be more appropriate......of course this is jmo...........Shokk
-
Athena. It was this board that I was referring to where the poster in her first year was followed around and had regular support posts removed. In my reply to another poster I brought up how Amy was treated unfairly on another board and I think that's where you got confused and thought she was the poster I referred to initially. Shokk is right, Ames is a private person and I only first brought her up to request prayers and positive thoughts for her while she fights for her life in the hospital.
I completely agree with your post and that whether you are ill or not does not excuse not being responsible or held accountable. Thanks.
edit to add: this first year poster was permanently banned from BCO a year and a half ago and it's amazing to find just posts still being removed by the "community" and bullies having power here.
-
The thing is Blah is that it does not have to be "bullies"..........it can be A bully.........one person has the power to permanently ban another person........as far as I am concern this is the most dangerous aspect of the "report this post" button..........
And just so everyone is aware............I was (am) limited to 5 posts in a 24 hour period......not sure if I am still in time out so if this conversations continues and I am not spewing my opinion ......then that may be why I don't respond...........
And Athena I wasn't trying to call you out.......your post for the most part was right on..........Shokk
-
Hey Shokkeroo .. how come you're on restriction? I didn't read the healthcare threads, so maybe it has to do with that.
Athena, I copied a portion of your post ... "you learn that you are ALWAYS responsible for your actions; that the illness is not your fault but it does confer responsibility."
That about sums it up for me. I know you were referring to BPD, but it applies to every facet of our lives.
The troubles on the healthcare/political threads will always be there. Those posting on the these threads have strong beliefs in their opinions and really have no desire for change (which certainly is their right). Deleting posts in the atheist thread is pretty silly in my opinion. If you have a faith in Jesus, why read the altheist thread? That's a head-shaker, again in my opinion. What happened almost two years ago on the Wagon Thread is long over and many of those wonderful gals have passed on. Many of those gals have left this site. A few of them have been banned permanently.
I wish the mods would reconsider and let those permanently banned back on this site. There are many who are missed here, including Chemosabi, Rocktober, IBCSpouse, Angel and others.
I think we are all way past the point of harboring bad feelings and want to embrace each other witih love and respect.
Bren
-
Yes Bren I had some posts removed "by the community"..........can you believe that some people get tired of my bs?............so I was put on "restriction".........haven't posted enough to see if it has been lifted............
But I couldn't agree with you more.........I think that if some people would like the opputurnity to return that have been permently banned I think all of us can managed to respect one another......I do believe that some have moved on but none the less to be honest I don't think the circle has ever been the same since and it is just too bad..........
I know that Melissa has a lot on her plate............that we all would need to be on our best behavior.........I think we can do it.........so Melissa if by chance you see this please give it some consideration..........thanks........Shokk
-
Well .. Shokkeroo .. I never tire of your b.s.
-
WOW for the first time I have seen someones writing here (not this thread, and thankfully none of the threads I go on) that is just plain old mean! OMG where does this person get off, I wont even call her a woman, because she sure doesnt act like one! Sisterhood is something I am sure she has no idea what it is. Mean, condescending, and a freaking soap box bigger than my house.
Sorry, this probably doesnt really belong on here, but I had to vent (like you all know I do) and didnt know where to put it.
So I guess I can see what some of you have been dealing with for a long time, as it seems as though she goes out of her way to put people down.
-
Cherneski I am not here to defend anyone but as far as the above post.........(I take it you are referring to blah's post).........she was deeply hurt by some women including myself........sometime situations can get out of control and misunderstandings have lives all of their own..........
And it is obvious that blah is still hurt by what happen and for that I am truly sorry.........I am sorry for all the women that were hurt......... blah was not the only causality.........
And like you said you needed to vent..........I think Blah needed to vent as well........maybe if we could purge all of these hurt feelings.......try our best to forgive......then maybe we could all move on......and try and make the best of the lives we each have how ever long that may be.........
Shokk
-
OH NO! I didnt mean to offend anyone! I am sorry!
IT IS NOT ANYONE HERE, ON THIS POST! I am deleting my post because I dont want anyone to think I was reffering to them. I truely am sorry I was just venting because I know you gals have seen mean ppl here and I saw someone very mean and was so surprised. Sorry again.
-
Chereski you didn't do anything wrong.......I was assuming that you were talking about a post on this thread............sorry...........I was making an ass out of me and me...........
Madalyn you are one of those liberal that I like..............I really wish you would stop it.......you are ruining my reputation............Shokk
-
I don't mind your bs Shokk, but your punctuation drives me nuts.
-
Haha, Shokk -- you and I write kind of the same way --
more damage to your reputation, I'm sure -- I just use dashes instead of dots --
xoxox
Ann
-
Haha........it is just a vast right wing conspiracy to drive all you over educated left wing nut jobs INSANE!!!!!!!!............ha...........(you guys are the best even if you all are misguided when it comes to politics).......Shokk
-
BS? I thought y'all were talking about shokk's breast surgeon.
-
Well I am little nervous but would like to put in my 3 cents. I think that Blah did a pretty good job explaining what happened to her. And I was part of it and would also like to apologize. We get so emotionally involved in what is happening to us and if we didn't care about each other we wouldn't have hurt feelings. In the end we truelly are a sisterhood and would stand behind each other...til the end. I know I have helped many, but also hurt some peoples feelings along the way and I am very sorry for that.

Tonto, Blah and Shokk...it sounds like everyone is kissing and making up. Seriously, I am glad that you are all here again. You have a wealth of info to help others along the journey. And hopefully some of us can help by supporting you.
But please, don't remove your wonderful personalities by always agreeing with one another now! LOL
-
Its all good.
-
PIP don't worry.........you might be able to take the conservative out of assville......but you can never take the ass out of a conservative..........(crap that didn't even make sense).........you guys know what I mean..........or stop them from using running sentences that make the English majors crazy............ha...........
And Cherneski you are right.........it's all good...........
We really do have a wonderful group of women that have been delt a bad hand............a support group that none of us want to belong to.......but here we are..........and no we don't always agree about politics or treatment, to mojo or not.........to reconstruct or not.........to nipple or not.......it goes on and on........put now having to deal with breast cancer......to be reminded on a daily basis when I shower and get dress.......to see the scars........the dark boob that has been radiated..........the neuropathy from chemo..........I come here to bc.org........I laugh........I cry........I get pissed off.........I smile when I read a post from a friend..........and as angry as I am about this whole damn journey I am so thankful for this site.........it has been a life saver for my brain.......as dysfunctional as it may be..........Shokk
-
Amen!
-
Shokk, you are one of the women on my short list that I would like to meet some day. And that is partly because we don't always agree and could have some wonderful conversations face to face.
It is nice to have a place to go where we can be ourselves but understand that we have this one thing in common. No one else can begin to understand our journeys.
-
It's time for the Moderators to take another look and to please try to solve the problem of the Report This Post function being abused. Please!
-
What now?
-
So much for freedom of speech. I guess Ye Ole Book Burning was called off this evening so some were left with time on their hands.
-
I didn't get a chance to read all of the posts that have been deleted, but I did see the one that started this round before it was deleted. It included name calling against some women on these boards. I considered reporting it because of that, but it was gone before I made a decision.
At least one other post that was reported was gone before I saw it, but since that is the screen name's first post, was a term that had been used a day or two earlier on the thread on which the first deleted post appeared, and a couple of posts later, someone is celebrating the "return" of someone who's post set off this round, I suspect that the reporters believed that this was a screen name created simply to thwart the rules, which was against the community rules the last time I looked.
edited to add that the second post I referred to has now been restored by the moderators, and it specifically says what her other ID is, and that she is posting under a different screen name. The moderators apparently took action in this case to prevent an issue from festering over a weekend.
These things do seem to come in bursts, and then calm down, so hopefully at this point this dust up is winding down.
-
Ok, I just reported for the first time. The Dawson's creek star on DVD thread. I don't know, I own all the Dawson's creek dvd's so this did not exactly offend me, but is sure looked like spam.
If I have offfended some passionate Dawson loving BC sister, I will feel bad.

I am debating about whether or not to post this. On the one hand I think that was is happening with posts "removed by the community" and bannings has to be addressed. On the other hand, I realize that rocking the boat is not always the best thing to do.
I often post on the "Canadian Healthcare Thread." Although it is mostly Canadians who post there, we have many Americans and women from other countries who post there. They are all welcome. We write about Canadian issues, but we also joke and laugh. It is a great thread. There are times when we discuss current political issues. This means that the issue of American healthcare has come up. Some American women have sometimes felt that we (the Canadians) have "bashed" the US. I have apologized to those who may have felt offended, but I made it clear that we certainly do not hate Americans. As I stated earlier, many Americans post on this thread and they are welcome.
I recently posted something on the Canadian thread that was "removed by the community." I do not understand why my post was removed, and why I am on a 5 posts per day penalty, when other posters are allowed to write the most heinous and outlandish "truths."
My post that was "removed by the community" was in response to posts on another thread. I will post some of the posts I was reacting to:
FIRST - And NO OFFENSE...but this thread was created for the opinions of those who will be DIRECTLY affected by the possible changes to AMERICAN health care. Thanks!
What's so wrong with asking others to comply with the topic? I was really hoping this thread would be a place to discuss the topic and not one of shoving posters into the unpleasant situation of having to defend their opinions, thoughts and concerns.
I'm confused - Linda was reported because Sherry googled and could only find "far left crap". Then we are referred to a Sarah Palin site for translation of the bill and Shirley extols the wonders of Glenn Beck. Hmmm ....
my son-in-law changed jobs due to losing his other job due to this economy. He is now teaching making 1/3 of the salary that his prior job paid. However, he likes what he's doing....teaching children (I call) at risk. Let's put it this way. The district he's teaching in is one where most these kids do not have parents who give a crap about what their kid is doing concerning grades in school. Single home parents, moving from this home to that home with different relatives until they get kicked out of that home...and on and on. They have so many opportunities to DO BETTER, but if first starts with the parents. I was thinking back to when I was a kid...we didn't have all these social programs (meals, tutoring blah blah)...if we didn't bring our sandwich or buy our lunch at school we didn't eat. I'm not mean enough to say we shouldn't feed our children. However, what the government has done is kept these poor folks down and that's all they'll ever be...poor! They don't feel the need to work and it goes across all racial lines. If the government's going to hand out money and food stamps for healthy individuals who can work...why work? I hope there is a program where people can work AND get help from the government if needed. Health care is just one more thing to make us depend on THEM.
Stop making excuses for the irresponsible members of our society. Wake up and admit that they are absorbing the resources of our communities, cities, states and country. We have paid for the fixes...but the fixes have not happened. HELP ME and help all the hard working, tax paying, legal AMERICANS! Goof gawd... what part of this do you not understand? Continue to enable and coddle the thiefs and dependents and you will ALL be wishing you had done differently.Unfortuately, the sad truth is that you and your cronies, are not willing to assume responsibility.
This is not a solution. It's a clever and deceitful way to gain control. It's called tyranny.
Again, if BO and his thugs can find successful solutions to the fraud and corruption that is rampant within the existing agencies, then and only then, will I consider any of his or BIG GOV's proposals.
If BO and his thugs TRULY cared about us...the little people, they would declare a state of emergency concerning those who are not being treated or dying. But instead, BO puts on his knight in shining armor outfit and declares a state of emergency for the H1N1!
e-ful & r-co - I refuse to respond to either of you. You obviously have a hidden agenda...one in which I will simply not subject myself to. You need to "step up to the plate" and go bye-bye. Create your own little thread - Touche!
The dems get all happy cuz they think they've pulled the wool over our eyes. Some of us are to damned smart for that. The numbers DO NOT ADD UP. And if anyone thinks they do they're living in la la land. Also, IMHO, this is all set up for us to go to a single-payer system. We know Obama wants it. We know Purple Barney wants it.
I strayed off topic because I see the Progressive Socialist Democrat Marxist party as having an AGENDA! They want government run everything and I'm sick of it. And that didn't come from Fox! I don't watch MSNBC cuz that station's a joke.

I wonder why folks are getting testy over this performance? He asked us to judge him by the people with whom he surrounds himself; then proceeded to surround himself with felons, tax scofflaws, avowed communists, Union thugs, and Chicago self-dealing profiteers. He may consider himself judged as he suggested.
I am personally offended by these posts. However, I DID NOT REPORT ANY OF THEM! This is the post I wrote that was "removed":
Linda, That particular thread has degenerated into a hate-fest. Some people are actually using WorldNetDaily as a source! That site is at the forefront of the birther movement, and posits the view that the Obama administration is setting up concentration camps!!! There is also a new strain of anti-semitism that is growing on the thread. It is really hateful and exclusionary. Some of the posters have made it pretty clear that they don't want any dissenting views; hence, you being censored. It is unbelievable that it is allowed.
Did what I write go against any rules? How does what I wrote go against the rules of this board?
I was writing to someone whose post had also been "removed by the community" because it went against what some "repost this post" pushers disagreed with. Yet, I am "reported" and banned.
This is so unfair.
I am not asking for anyone to be banned, or for any thread to be removed. I am simply asking that when someone is, IMHO, unjustly "banned" that there should be a way to get our post back on the board and not be penalized because some people don't want to read dissenting opinions.
Mods, I know how hard you work to make this board such a great place; however, the unfairness of "reporting" and banning must be addressed.
Thank you,
Mary
