HI, thought I would jump in to say I started going without my wig last week. I have gotten some pretty odd looks and some pretty funny comments.........most know and are supportive.  One girl came up to me and said "oh no, Gracie why did you cut your hair all off?".....I explained that this was not a cut but a growth, I explained that I had a mastectomy and chemo and this was a part of it..................she then looked at my chest and said, "oh my, they grew back"............HA HA HA..........and I worried about chemo brain.

    Yah Grace for going topless!!

Jaimie - I had a dream about you last night! (and no, it wasn't one of those dreams!!) I was lying by a pool somewhere and you came up to me. I didn't know who you were and you said, "It's me, Jaimie. Don't you recognize these...." And you showed me the most enormous boobies I have ever seen, in a purple fake leather bikini!! Don't know what that means, exactly!!

Had a good afternoon at Jacks school yesterday. Nice to be useful. Still hot and muggy here, where was this weather all summer??

    Have a great day!

That is hilarious Kerry.  It's because I keep talking about my boobies....lol....    I will be finding a purple fake leather bikini once I get my new boobies..just for you :)

Grace~ That is hilarious that someone could be so clueless...lol...

As for me I made it thru getting the drains out yesterday and the manual draining she had to do...all I can say is eeewweee :(  She also removed every other stitch and that hurt which I wasn't expecting it to hurt.  I survived and I am expected to try and drain it again tody.

I am still dizzy which I hope and pray is from sinus pressure.  If I take a mucinex- D it goes away so I am hoping it stops soon.

Kerry ~ that dream is hilarious, LOL!

Jamie ~ Yes, we must see the HUGE new boobies in a purple bikini, heeheehee!!

Grace ~ oh mercy, was your friend serious?  "Oh, they grew back" hahahahaha!  Don't we wish?! Laughing  I went without anything on my head to Herceptin last week, but that's all.  I'm wearing a ball cap most everywhere else.

We're invited to a visit some relatives in December.  We haven't seen these folks in about six years, and while they know all about my BC, my first thought was "I can't go!  Look at my stupid hair!!"  And then there's the flying and my terrible fear of lymphedema.  Have I mentioned how much I hate cancer?!
    Undecided

Hope everyone's having a good day!  Love to all of you!

Kerry:  I haven't trimmed anything yet, but am getting like you, where it is getting difficult to "style", with sticky-out hairs, waves, etc.  If I wet it and use gel it looks ok though.  Your dream was too funny!!!!

Grace:  so good to hear from you, how are you doing?  Good for you for going topless!  Feels good, doesn't it?

Jaimie:  that sounds nasty, hope you stop oozing soon....I had vertigo a couple of weeks ago, and was dizzy for quite a few days....my onc and others said something was going around that caused it, and I am fine now, so hopefully yours will pass, too.

Artemis:  I'm with ya on the flying....hate it, I'm such a chicken about heights.

Still at the hospital with Julia, but gotta run, son gets out of school soon.

    hugs

I have had my hair cut already. I usually wear my hair short and got it cut when it started growing over my ears.

I have started my heparin injections and they sting and bruise so bad! Yuck! Yes, I certainly do hate cancer!

yeah Judy, been worrying 'bout Julia too.  How is she?  Did you ever tell us what she has?? I can't remember anything other than that she has a PICC for some underlying condition.  Poor baby.

    Morning girls!

Thanks again for the well-wishes....Julia will be in the hospital for a few days, we know it's another blood infection, but with the swine flu crap going on, they are treating her as a potential flu patient (which means masks, gowns, etc) until the results are back. So she got a private room out of that deal (she's not even coughing for goodness sake!).

Michele, Julia's digestive system is messed up....like gastroparesis, probably due to the narcotic pain killers she has taken for years. She only has BM's every couple of weeks, severe constipation for years.....now when she eats food, since her bowels are always full, the body can't process it, so it just comes right back up. She lost tons of weight, and gets TPN thru the picc. We are in the process of seeing if a jpeg to the small intestines will work for her, much safer infection-wise.

I was just thinking this morning about how far we've all come together....starting chemo way back in February....most of us done now, even though it seemed like it would never end at the time. I'm so proud of all of us, and am so happy to have "met" all of you....like Webbie said, one cannot have too many friends : )

    Hugs

    Judy

Man Kerry has me with porn boobies..lol...

Judy that sounds horrible I hope Julia feels better soon.

I got a phone call last night that my niece who is 16 and pregnant (that story next) has the swine flu.  Oh yeah...poor baby :(

We found out 2 weeks ago that she is pregnant (she didn't know).  My sister took her to the hospital thinking that she had appendisitis (sp) and they came out and told her she was pregnant.  Ten minutes later the US tech came in and confirmed that she was indeed pregnant AND 24 1/2 week with a little boy.  Poor girl was on birth control and had gained 4lbs but didn't look pregnant at all.  Her uterus is tilted toward the back and the placenta is in the front making it so she couldn't feel the baby move.  She has continued to have a "period" this whole time so my sister who is a labor and delivery nurse didn't think anything of it.  So now at Christmas time we will be welcoming baby no-name into our family.

Here is the latest with my drama: Ever since I started on the coumadin and fragmin I have had a bad headache and swelling. This morning my right arm has been aching and fingers are a little bit more swollen on that hand. So, I'm going in to have an ultrasound of that arm to rule out another clot. I am switching brands of coumadin because I could be allergic to the dye in the pill. Yell

On a lighter note, here is a picture of my boobs in a purple bikini!  Last weekend DH and I went to Washington, DC for fun time alone. This is in the hotel jaccuzi. Now Kerry, I know they are smaller than Jaimies will be. But thats all ya get!

Oh, goodness, you guys are going to think I am obsessed with boobs!! Or maybe just Jaimie's boobs...

Cheryl, I have to say you have a fine rack there! You are really looking great. I miss cleavage. I hope you get your clotting problem sorted out. It's enough already!

Jaimie - that is quite the story with your niece.  Must be a shock for your sister - is the dad going to be involved at all.Hope the swine flu doesn't hurt the baby.

Judy - hope Julia is doing better. Do they think it will resolve itself over time? What a thing to have to live with.

Sending everyone a smile today Smile

Michele, PM me here or FB about your question if it makes you more comfortable.

I had the US of my arm and there is no clot. My headache was so bad today I took a whole vicodin! I called my husband to take me to the hospital because I knew it would make me loopy. I've slept most of yesterday and today. I'm not taking the generic coumadin tonight, but brand name. It is an experiment to see if I am sensitive to one of the dyes in the generic pill. I think my immune system is hyperactive since chemo. I never had allergic reactions like I have been getting lately!

Michele if I get to come to NOLA for surgery and you come see me I would be happy to show you my girls. :)  The invitation is open to all my girls :)

Oh Michele now you have me curious I wanta know what you question is....hell I most likely have the same question and if I don't someone probably does.

Cheryl~ I hope it's just a dye that you are reacting to.

I often wonder how many people are reading this who we have never "met"...

Cheryl, man, it just doesn't stop, does it. Hope it is the dye that is causing it.

Jaimie - hows the packing going?

Michele - you now have a captive audience.....

Glad it is Friday! Emily is getting the Student of the Month award at her school today!  I am a proud Mummy.

I want to go to NOLA with Michele and Jamie!  We will all get new boobies together; maybe we can get a "February Furies" discount.
    Wink

Cheryl ~ your boobies look awesome in your purple bikini.  You had a single Mx, right?  I honestly can't tell from the pic which one is the recon!  You look great!  I'm glad there's no clot, and I surely hope you can get the meds straightened out.  Is your hand still swelling?  Is it on the side they took the nodes?  I'm wondering if it could be the beginnings of lymphedema.  (I have lymphedema on the brain; I think about it WAY too much.)

Judy ~ poor Julia. Frown  She is a very sick girl indeed.  I'm so sorry, and hope she's better soon.

Jamie ~ wow, that's something about your niece.  I can't imagine the shock!   I do hope she gets over the swine flu quickly so she can start to get things ready for sweet little Baby NoName.

Michele ~ Nobody here will mind if you want to ask anything at all, but I understand your reluctance.  There's something I've been wondering myself, but haven't asked yet.  I keep searching the boards hoping it's been discussed somewhere else already, LOL!

    Hugs to all,
    Artemis

Okay NOLA got my paperwork today. DH is getting more on board with ny decision but he doesn't want me to do DIEP.

Kerry - yeah about the packing...lol... I am still putting it off. I decide to volunteer instead. So I am picking the girl up and then going home to start the dreaded packing. Notice a theme I hate to pack with a passion. I also got to finish their Mickey shirts. So much to do that I can put off like a slacker ...lol...

My question isn't that exciting, LOL.  Mostly embarrassing!  A little history (since I'm airing dirty laundry)... I have a looooong history of body-issues.  I was treated for anorexia/bulemia in my teens and, frankly, you never get over that.  So, I've always *seen* myself differently than the rest of the world.  It is something I've just had to live with... though, I'm not binging/purging anymore.  So, to an already neurotic person, losing body parts is the icing on the cake.  *Before* BC, DH and I had a s%x life.  Sure, I have never liked the way I looked but he did and I managed to accept that.  NOW, being intimate is just too much.  I try for the sake of my marriage (and manage to do *something* every other week or so) but it is upsetting.  I mean, I really HATE my body now (as opposed to disliking it before).  But *that's* not the problem.  The problem is that, the other day, I found out that DH was looking at stuff.  You know, women with all of their parts.... That really hurt me.  (Talk about feeling like a freak compared to some Pl@yboy chickie...)  SO, all of the work I *had* been doing on self-esteem (and I HAD been working!) is moot.  I'm sort of mad at him but how can I expect him to never see a b00b again???  I guess I was just hoping that he would be more sensitive in light of the situation.  SO my question (finally!!) is: would this upset you?  Do you expect your DH to be more sensitive than mine? LOL?  What should I do? (Incidentally, when I found out I cried and cried...)

Thanks ladies... feel free to PM me.  I'll likely delete this post in a day or so so that my *issues* don't stay out there for public consumption.

Jaimie~ Looking at pics of you, I don't think that you are big enough for a DIEP.  I was told that for a tram, I'd need to gain 40 #... a DIEP needs almost as much tissue.  You are smaller than me by a long shot.  What about the TUG or one of the GAPs?  I think that one of the GAPs would be what I would have.  (just planning ahead! LOL!)I'm planning on coming to see you while you are down this way.  That, is, if you'll have me!

    Kerry~ ThanksKiss

    Michele,

I believe it is natural to have some struggles with our new body image.  I know that just the other day I was kind of grumpy and so wishing I could look "sexy", kind of hard to do with looking like I do now...I am going to pm you.  Thanks for being brave enough to "put it all out there"...
