I watched a fascinating and very informative program on the PBS channel's NOVA called The Ghost in your Genes. Just found it is available for viewing on the PBS website and will watch again, if not several more times! It was so informative. I personally have had a major guilt complex fearing that  my own life choices are the only cause for all my chronic health issues (BC, arthritis, chronic obesity). I know that personal choices and environment do have a major effect on health but it was interesting to learn that environmental factors can effect gene activity in generations beyond the one in-which the issue 1st occured. Very insightful...plus it shows how much science IS  figuring out and proving. After watching this, I finally totally understand the HER2 issue. I highly recommend watching it if you have access.

    Thanks, Billie.

I have my DVR set to tape it Saturday night. My plastic surgeon was talking about turning genes off & on...actually we were talking about that stuff girls put on their eyelashes to make them grow.

He said "If they are going to turn a gene on....better be damn sure they know how to turn it off".

Thanks again. I am looking forward to seeing it.

    Bump!

I saw the show as well and it was thought provoking...bumping it

Dawnn - too funny!  I love your PS's state...it is so true "If they are going to turn a gene on....better be damn sure they know how to turn it off".  Visions of "I am Legend" with Will Smith immediately came to mind...

Epigenetics are so cool. Amazing how identicle twins can actually be so different. I was also shocked to see a chemo drug they stopped using in the 70's having such a remarkable result when used at such a lower dose.

Great, great show. I enjoyed it.

    Thank you again, Billie.
