lump under nipple with pain

Hi there - hope you all are doing OK.

I thought I would post here because people on this forum might be most familiar with this problem. I have had a lump under my nipple for about 8 months to a year. First I had a Birads 4 US at 12:00 that they core biopsied and said it was fibroadenoma. Then I had a thickened area in the upper outer area that was growing quickly and then I got this curved finger shaped lump under my nipple that seemed to come from the thickened area. My surgeon didn't like all this so he did an excisional biopsy. During the surgery he found something he didn't like and had a frozen section done but it came back benign changes - apocrine metaplasia etc. He didn't take out the part under the nipple but I thought he would. Now it hurts and I'm still concerned about it. When they do testing now, they see it, but they say it is scar tissue even though I keep telling them that it was there before the surgery. I have had US, digital mammo and MRI but as I said they are ignoring this lump as scar tissue. They have found several things in both breasts that they are "watching".  Has anyone had a lump like this under their nipple?

    HI FL

I cant answer your question as I have a different problem than you all together. Buttttttt, Here is my advise. On Oprahs show Dr oz discussed how important it is to listen to your body. When something does not feel right. He mentioned how important it is to be your biggest fan look out for you. So you need to march back into that doctor and insist that they do something else for you rather than tell you they are watching. It is so critical to not give up until you feel safe. This is your health, your body, this is about you. No one else will come to your defense. Get ALL of your tests, EVERYTHING and go get a 2nd opinion. ASAP.. If they find come to the same conclusion that is great at least you did the right thing for you...

My 75 y.o. mother was found to have a lump under her nipple with an inverted nipple(not sure if you have this or not), after mammo and ultrasound they determined it was cancer.  She had a L masectomy on Sept 8th and will have the lymphnodes out on Oct 6th.  I guess I'm telling you all this is because we are new to cancer, we have been going crazy asking questions and wondering if I'm getting correct information.  My gut feeling for you, get a second opinion.  Call the Cancer Centers of America; perhaps they can answer some questions over the phone.  I have been told by people in my community that the "lets watch this" routine has taken many lives.  If your gut is telling you something isnt right, then it isn't and you won't rest until you find out. Don't be afraid to demand things. I actually wrote down dates, names and conversations on a legal pad and when I went to the doctors I made sure she seen it and she knew I meant business and I got further.  Good luck to you....don't wait, there's people that love you and need you.
