Good news!  I started chemo + Herceptin  in December last year and finished with Taxotere and Carbo in mid April.  My MUGA scans went from 69 before chemo to 65 during chemo, then 62 at the end of May. Herceptin is conituing through December this year. I joined a gym Aug. 1st and started working out rigorously 3 - 4 times a week, 45 minutes each time. I am 5' 6" and 150 pounds, so not overweight and just about average.  I had a MUGS last week and my MUGA went UP to 64!  My next MUGA will be in December. I can't wait to find out what three solid months of spin classes and treadmill work outs will do to improve my heart function! I consider it my own little prescription for health now, not to mention well being and new found energy!

There is no reason to believe you have suffered any loss of function. Your doc should have explained that any reading within 10% of the previous one is acceptable. 69 to 65 to 62 is not an indication of heart damage, but can easily be explained by variations in how the scans are read. These scans are interpreted by humans who see things differently. 2 different people viewing the same MUGA scan will give 2 different results.

The good news is that your scans are staying withing the normal range.
