How old were you?

I was 51...(well, still am, but not for much longer)when dx in Feb. I had a lumpectomy,(high grade comedocarcinoma with necrosis, ER positive, PR positive tumor HER2/Neu 3+) then had a partial mastectomy three weeks later (due to bad margins). Went on Tamoxifen in March, but was taken off last week due to spotting (I see my GYN on 6/30) Had 35 radiation treatments (just finished up on June 13). I feel like I'm walking a tightrope without a safety net...

39 at diagnosis last December, turned 40 this past February.

I don't have bc, but my mom was just diagnosed last week at the age of 77. She has invasive lobular carcinoma and will undergo a mastectomy on July 19th. I don't know anything else at this point -- whether there are any nodes involved, what grade and stage the cancer is at, etc., but my mom says she will not do chemo at her age (I don't blame her).
My mother-in-law had bc back in the 1970's when she was in her late 40's. She had a double mastectomy and chemo for an entire year. She lived for another 23 years until she passed away from bone cancer at the age of 70.
I look forward to learning a lot from all of you!

I was diagnosed two months ago at the age of 39. I was very fortunate because my tumor was 2a - only very minimal involvement in two of the five lymph nodes removed. Which means 4 A/C and then 4 Taxotere - no rads for me. If I manage to stay on schedule I'll be finished with chemo about a month before I turn 40.
-
Diagnosed last year at age 30 with stage 3A and 4 nodes postitive. Lumpectomy and 2 re-excisions, dose dense chemo and rads.

I was 41 when diagnosed in January, and will turn 42 in October. I really think I felt a difference (not a lump) in the area on my left breast, though for more than a year. I was in denial and now just thankful that it is being treated. I had IDC, Stage 2, 2.5 cm, but no nodes and all scans clear, ER/PR + Her -. I am a little over half done with 4 FEC, 4 Taxotere's and then radiation, and then most likely hysterectomy and oopherectomy. Also some work on my boobs to make them match after the large lumpectomy (my boobs are now nicknamed: Pucker and Droopy)

Had turned 50 2 mos. earlier when I was dx. in 12/04. IDC, 1.3cm, ER+, 1+ node out of 11. Finished AC+T (dose dense) in 5/05, down to 7 rads left (out of 33). Can't wait!!!
-
I was 33, one month shy of turning 34. I'm 7 mths out of chemo, done with radiation and taking Tamoxifen. So far so good.
-
I was 46 (now 47) when I found the lump. Had mast in June and starting chemo this week. It seems and very sad how this curse is getting younger each year.
-
I was 47 the first time in 98; lumpectomy with rads. Dx second time this past April; bilateral mast, expander reconstruction with implants surgery scheduled for 8/5

Hi everyone - I was 55 when diagnosed last Oct 04 with ILC in left breast. Had mamos every year since I had turned 50 and they classified the thickening due to dence breast tissue. Started to hurt last fall so had biopsy done - nodes involved. Had lumpectomy, chemo, just finished rads in May. ER/PR+, Heru/2-, on Arimidex which is another story all it's own.(not complaining, glad they have the drug, but man oh man, what a nasty medication). My best to all.

I was 34 when diagnosed in March of this yr.Turned 35 just recently.Funny how before cancer you don't want to get older, but now can't wait to cherish each added year.
-
I was 55. Found a lump in my breast Easter weekend this year. Went to dr, April 12, she scheduled me for sonogram. Had biopsy the next day, diagnosed two days later with IDC, grade 3 on 5/5/05. Had lumpectomy on 6/1/05, clear margins, 2 of 40 lymph nodes involved. Had port put in, started chemo 7/7/05. will do 4 A/C and 4 Taxol and then will have to have 6 weeks radiation. Should be throught with all of the treatments before Christmas.

I was/am 33 and was diagnosed on 5/15/05 with Stage 1, IDC & DCIS. I felt the lump 6 months earlier but my gyno. said she didn't feel anything.
I'm doing a cycle of IVF using Femara to block the estrogen and then I'll begin dose dense AC&T probably the first week in August.

I found my lump 2 weeks after turning 36 this past May...Dx'd with IDC (clear SNB but positive lymphatic channels) HER2+++ grade 3 stage IIA after a core biopsy two weeks after that. I just had my first of 4 AC's yesterday....to be followed by 4 Taxol
-
Compared to the responses I see here I was OLD! I was diagnosed at age 56...but a young 56.
I thought this was more commonly a postmenopausal thing. I am surprised by this discussion.
Could it be less women over the age of 50 do the internet? or are we just ruining our bodies earlier in life with hormone injected foods, pesticide treated produce, plastics etc.? -
I was just diagnosed this past May, at the age of 35, with IDC, bilateral mast., 15 of 22 lymph nodes positive on left side, found also in the tissue surrounding nodes, ER/PR+, HER2-, grade 3, stage IIIc. I start my first of four doses of a/c tomorrow morning, followed by 12 doses of Taxol, than Tamaxifene for ???. Rads to follow Taxol.
-
I was 34 when diagnosed with stage IIB in March. I have 2 chemo treatments left, then surgery, then radiation. I'll be 35 in 1 week and I'm hoping that will be a better year.
-
Another one that needs to be added to 39-45 list. Was diagnosed last week and am 39. Will turn 40 in December.
-
so many different ages...
-
32, I think... my brain just went fuzzy or maybe because I never really paid attention to b-days. OK, did the math I am 32, diagnosed 5/05 IIIA, 4/11 positive, er-/pr-, her2+, first chemo TAC was today.

Dx at 47 - DCIS ... partial mastectomy, rads and tamoxifen. Now that's an interesting drug with all kinds of side effects. Yes, not exactly what I was planning to do at this stage of my life, but it is what it is. Now I'm very grateful for every healthy day.
-
22-1/2 the first time (IDC), then DCIS and IDC right before my 38th birthday this time around.
SharonA -
51. IDC Stage 1, 2 cm tumor, Grade 1, ER+/PR+/her2+++, node negative
-
I was 39 when dx in Apr 05, I'm now 40. Right mast. 3cm IDC, grade 3, er/pr+, her2-, 1/15+ nodes, stage 2b.
-

-
Joyce: Im 55. Have IDC with one node positive. er/pr neg and Her2 positive. I am stage 2 grade 2 Doctor told me i had this for 4-5 years. Go figure.
-
Just diagnosed with IDC 2 weeks ago at 45. Turn 46 tomorrow. Mammos show nothing, radiologist thought ultrasound showed fibroadenoma(sp). My heart and a wonderful breast surgeon I went to see in spite of those "good" reports found the bc.
-
I was diagnosed with DCIS this May followed by a diagnosis of IDC~ multifocal~ ( not seen on mammogram but spotted on an ultrasound while biopying for DCIS) in June. I am 49 years old~ I will be the big 50 this October.
