I did my first sprint tri last week.  Not bad considering I am not a swimmer (swam alot as a kid but havent been in the water more than 4-5 times in the past 15 years!  Fortunately it was a quick 1/4 mile pool swim and I did it in 15 mins (not last).  Did better on the bike and run - also havent been on a bike more than 4-5 times in the past 15 years.  Thought I actually DID forget how to ride but apparently not!  The run is my strong suit and though I am not fast I was still able to do a lot of passing (cuz I am so slow on the swim!)

Overall I finished 127/200 - not bad for a complete newbie.  May try to work on the swimming and actually buy a bike (I borrowed) and do it again....Id like to do a 1/2 mile swim...maybe Disney next year.  Doing a half marathon in 2 weeks.

Everyminute, great job on the sprint! Hang in there with the swimming, If you're going to be slow at something the swim is it - that way you can pass people the rest of the race instead of being passed. Have a good time picking out a bike. Love bike shopping.

    How's your training/racing going Runner?

achen2iron- I was just wondering the same thing about you and so I decided to log on here.  Wow - I guess I have not been here in a while.  The good news is I DID IT...  In October, one year after my profile picture was taken,  I ran the Columbus Marathon in 3:49 which qualified me for the Boston Marathon. The bad news is that when I started doing my speed training in August I pulled my butt muscle and am still healing.  I stopped all training after Columbus in order to heal.  According to the BM website, my qualifying time can still be used for the 2011 race and so reluctantly, I have decided to let my body heal and wait until next year to run it.  So now,  my ass is finally starting to feel better and I have set my sites on either 70.3 in Syracuse (September) or the full Florida Ironman.  I got in the water this week for the first time since August...  ouch.

Hope to see how the rest of you are doing with your training.

Runner, Great job on the Marathon! Too bad about the muscle pull. Boston will be waiting! My training is going well. 12 weeks until Ironman CDA. Had a great traing week last week, hope to do the same this week. Little slower than I was a year ago. Think my body finally realized what happened to it. Still out there plugging away though. Think my IM time will be somewhere between 14 to 15 hours this time around. It'll do. Happy training!

    How are my Ironwomen doing?

I am getting ready to ride 180 miles next week to raise money for cancer research.  I feel underprepared :(  What are you all doing this summer?

YEYE runnner you go girl !

     Well I am :

1 - Rowing in Orlando Rowing Club's regional Women's 8 team and training my pants off getting up at 4 AM doing erg pieces.. intensity is a lot more than my IM trainings but the suffererings are a lot less in duration.

2 - I am part of the warriors on water Breast cancer Survivor Dragon Boat team which was formed a year ago.. we even managed to raise funds to go to Canada in June for a dragonboat festival.. that is keeping me busy a lot.

however.. since I cannot possibly stay away from tri'ing.

I am helping the warriors on water bc survivor gals to compete in the Danskin/ Trek womens triathlons and actually have 8 teams competing in 2 weeks here in orlando 14 are newbies.. so you can say that although I am not tri-ing myself I am certainly spreading the bug helping gals ramp up.. some are even aspiring to do all 3 legs by themselves..

I have been doing a little biking with hubby once a week 35 miles slow pace.

Started working with my personal trainer who has a golds medal at worlds in weightlifting who is kicking my butt ! I am trying to tell him I am afraid of lymphedema but we are really going on with heavy weights .. I love it !!!

trying to get in 2 jog/walks/ week.. and a yoga session.

And of course there is the paying job lol...

Next step : restart tennis and golf !!!

LIFE IS GOOD ! the only problem I have left is the stupid weight ! I have about 30 pounds since I was diagnosed.. arghhh !
