NYC 2 Day Avon Walk Oct 09

Hello sisters!

For 3 years in a row I participated in Avon 2 day and Komen 3 day walks, just because I could, just because I wanted to walk for the cause. Then in November of 08, the diagnosis was mine and 9 months later, for my anniversary present, my husband said he would be honored if I joined HIM on the walk.  So, with less than 7 weeks to go, we ARE walking in the Avon 2 day in NYC!  I would love the opportunity to meet and greet any of you that will also be on the crusade.  I must admit I am a bit nervous about walking as a survivor.  All those previous walks when I would see a survivor, I would just cry for them.  I cannot believe I am now one of them.  Any one else have that feeling?  Would love for anyone to share.  Thanks, Diet

    Hi Diet,

    I am not a walker but a volunteer in the NYC Avon Walk. I will be one of the volunteers who register the walkers. I would love to meet a fellow bc.org sister. I will be sitting at the horseshow shaped table at a computer. As it gets closer, I will let you know what I will be wearing. Thank you for walking for us..it is an admirable thing to do!!

    I am so excited you wrote.  I would love to meet you and will def. find you.  As time gets closer, like you said, we can work out details on how to find each other.  My mom just died this past week (was a BC survivor) and I am on an emotional roller coaster, but I will walk.  THanks for volunteering!  Hugs, Terri

    Terri,

    So very sorry to hear about your mom. My prayers are with you and your family. My cousins and I are having a rummage sale tomorrow with all the monies going to the breast walk. My 33 yr old cousin and her friend will be walking so the money will be going for their part. This is the 2nd time we have had a rummage sale. It is my 4th year of volunteering. I had to skip a year cause I was dx with bc. I started volunteering and then I got it, just like you. Can't wait to connect with you.
