Edwards and his "spare"
In the UK, the princes' are called the "heir and the spare". Now Edwards, in another person's tell all book, said he'd marry his mistress and mother of his child after his now wife,Elizabeth, after she died of breast cancer.
Hmmmm. I wonder if that put's Mrs. Edwards mind at ease?
I realize, in the scheme of things, this is a small point, and that I'm being catty, but this guy's holier than thou attitude during the campaign, even knowing what he'd been up to, just galls me.
Of course, at least his is public, so many of our "leaders" have dark closets, filled with secrets we'll never know about.
I have usually said that a person's private life shouldn't have anything to do with them doing a good job, so I've rarely ever felt the need to call someone out on personal/private issues. But !, this guy's lying, lack of responsibility and deception are ones for the books IMHO.
Sorry, just needed to vent---

Edwards is as obscene as Sanford blubbering all over t.v. that his mistress is his "soul mate" and disappearing to South America for days on end! Then there's Edwards turning up at a hotel in L.A. in the middle of the night to see his baby girl.
I read that Elizabeth will not let him publicly admit the child is his.
What were they thinking??!!!

My dh and I always joked that we'd likely not divorce since the one who left had to take the kids. LOL Maybe that's what's holding her back?
I do agree that her quality of life would improve. She's a Very bright woman, she must have her reasons.
-
I also think it is about the children with Elizabeth Edwards. She probably figures that if something happens to her and they have already dealt with the trauma of their parents divorce that it would be that much harder for them to adjust to her death. My guess is if she did not have the two younger children to consider she very well may have booted him.She has so much class and of course IMO he does not.
Totally agree...................... Sanford is pathetic....................... all that weeping on TV....... good grief. Nauseating.

I just hope Elizabeth Edwards lives another 30 years!!!! That'll show him

Great one Coonie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elizabeth is a smart lady and she should be given credit for judgement. What her
husband did is horrible....but she has her reasons for doing what she is doing...
We connect with her and wish her the best...

I saw an interview with Elizabeth Edwards and she said that she visits cancer websites but mostly lurks. So I hope nobody would say anything here that they would not say to he face. It's her life and she is the only one who can live it.

John Edwards -- gag...
Elizabeth Edwards -- basically, I think she is saying "I refuse to admit any more upheaval into my home, my life, my children's lives." That sounded to me like what she was saying in the Oprah interview. I can relate to that...
-
I almost hate to admit that I am from NC. But I never liked the attitude of John E when he was in NC government.
I agree with AnnNYC's view on what Elizabeth Edwards has said about the upheaveal in the home and her children's lives. I too hope she has a long life ahead of her.
-
It is very hard for me to understand Elizabeths reaction to all of John's bs. He is a louse. What a jerk, But I admire her very much for her courage in the face of all this, and refrain from judging her, even though my instincts say "dump the rat"! I hope she lives 50 years!!!

I hate to admit it but I kind of liked him in the beginning. Ah well, I can make a mistake. I agree with Coonie, I'm hoping she outlives the turkey and gets remarried to an honest man.
-
She just wants love and support from the man she married. Many women stay and fight for their marriages, their family. Who are we to judge.
-
But, I am keeping my fingers crossed that she outlives the turkey, and lives happly ever after.
-
I pray she lives to be a very old and happy lady. She is a nice lady have met her a few times.
-
her reaction is due to the fact that she has stage 4 cancer. She has to keep taking chemo to stay alive. I get my treatment at UNC Chapel Hill and was sitting across from her in the waiting room. She was alone. I was surprised, it is usually me that is alone as I am recently divorced. Then I thought about it, I would not want that jerk by my side either. Elizabeth did not look well and was limping. I hope she out lives him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked John Edwards and was disappointed when he dropped out of the primaries, but, of course, it turned out to be the best thing. I felt very betrayed when I found out about his affair and can only imagine how Elizabeth felt. Have any of you read her recent book "Saving Graces?" Elizabeth wrote about her fear that, after she died, John would eventually marry the woman with whom he had the affair. She wrote about how difficult it was for her to imagine that he would even think of marrying someone so completely different from her in almost every way. She noted that the fact that John had an affair was devastating enough, and that it had gone on for such a long time although he originally told her it was a one-night stand, but that the other woman has such a different personality and values from Elizabeth made it so much worse. She wrote about her hurt and fear that John might bring the other woman into her home after she was gone. She said that John has assured her over and over that he will not marry her, but it's difficult for her to trust him after what he did. If I remember correctly, Elizabeth wrote that she has finally managed to be convinced that John would not marry the woman and bring her into their home.
I was shocked when I read that the other woman (I refuse to name her) recently relocated to South Carolina. That's got to be so hard on Elizabeth, that and the recent publicity about how hard John tried to cover up the affair. It makes him look so bad. I hate what Elizabeth must be going through because of the apparent upcoming announcement that the baby is John's, which is, of course, what most people think anyway. My heart goes out to Elizabeth as she deals with all this. I admire her so much; I really hate that she has to suffer any more because of John's indiscretion.
