Hi everyone,

Just been to the hospital where my GP referred me for swelling in my armpit and constant pain in my right breast.

Whilst in sub-waiting I heard the doctor say  (when given my notes)' This isn't a breast problem, why is it here?' After taking my background (he didn't let me describe symptoms or issues) he then took me straight through to exam room where i undressed. He looked at me and said ' you have extra breast tissues' and told me to get dressed. He didn't even touch my breasts or do an exam.  I asked him about the pain and he said it is probably a rib. I am really scared. My aunty had breast cancer very young and although I know i'm only 26 I can feel something is not right. Please help, I'm not sure what to do next other than go private (which i can't really afford!)

See if there is some way you can get aonther opinion. Maybe call your GP and tell him you went but the doc didn't examine you. If needs be, complain at the facility where you were about substandard care. Refusing to examine you or even listen to symptoms is exactly that.

Where are you located? Will your insurance cover an exam/testing at a different facility?

You are young for this to happen, but that's no excuse.

That said, I'm hoping for good news for you.

How about your GYN. Sometimes when they see your age because you are so young unfortunately some Doctors don't pay enough attention. Thats my understanding by reading so many stories on these boards.

You have to have piece of mind do every thing in your power to get a second opinion.

Believe me i understand what you are saying. You know your body better than anybody else.

Again this doesn't mean you have something serious,,,,but you well deserve an exam.

Good luck to you and keep posting to let us know how you are doing.
