I had a Skin Biopsy done today and have a question?
HI everyone first I would like to say thank you for all the replies. I seen the surgeon this morning and he explained to me what it may be refering to the IBC but he seem to think that it wasn;t.but still wanted to do a skin biopsy. I asked him about all the broken blood vessels I have also in the same breast and he said he wasn't sure why I would have them on there. When I explain to him what was wrong with me he told me about the IBC and then looked at my breast and said I want to do a skin biopsy, but I dont think that's what you got. I don't think thats what I have, but at the same time I want to be sure. Then I started thinking what if he took the skin from the wrong area, ya know how your head sometimes does this to ya lol. Anyway I guess my question is has anyone had to have more then 1 biopsy before final dx? Also when you had the skin biopsy did your breast hurt and bruise, cause mine is bruised badly and hurts,it also bleed through the bandaid,my bra and shirt I had on today, like I smashed it like a pancake. And 3rd did any of you who seen the surgeon tell ya up front he/she thought it was IBC or just play it off like well lets just do a biopsy to be on the safe side so you wouldn't worry. I'am the type of person that I just want a answer straight forward don't beat around the bush, exspecially when it comes to dr's....sorry more then 1 question.

My skin biospy came back with no malg(negitive). I still have redness, pain, tenderness. It's not swollen very much,of course I'm big breasted anyway. I dont know what to think cause he did say in the beginning it didnt look like IBC and he didnt know what it be from. I also have broken blood vessels and he also said he didnt know why I would have them there or what would have caused them. He was a general surgeon and was very nice, but I'am not sure what to think with my breast still having the problems I'm having. Anyway thought I share.
Thanks everyone

My mom was told by her dr. that she had IBC, he said she showed all the characteristics of it, but they would need the pathology in order to begin treatment. So he did a skin punch biopsy- this came back negative...and yet we all new it was IBC. So he did another more invasive biopsy and this tested positive. in total it took about 3 weeks for my mom to have a confirmed diagnosis.
good luck to you and keep on the doctors!

My oncologist told me that usually the IBC diagnosis is a clinical diagnosis, meaning from observation. He told me that even if a punch biopsy comes back negative, it does not totally rule out IBC. Not what you wanted to hear, I know, but important to know just the same. My own punch biopsy and excisional biopsy both came back positive for IBC so in my case, we knew for sure. I didn't want to have IBC, obviously, but my prayer going in to surgery that day was that if I did have it, that the biopsy come back positive instead of a false negative. Good luck.
