I am like you Holly can't talk to my family about anything cancer or they get uncomfortable so I come here almost daily to talk. I have made alot of new friends here.It may be an addiction but I think it is a healthy one.

I think of it like a child who's learned to suck their thumb. As psychiatrists now say, isn't it amazing that a child can find such inner peace inside themself? I let my DD suck her thumb until SHE was ready to stop. Unlike my parents who put vinegar on mine and told me it was poison! I sucked it anyway (not knowing it was only vinegar!), willing to die rather than lie in bed alone and scared. So sad, eh?

So, until someone can come up with something better, you ladies are my sanity during the day!

Whose mantra is " do no harm "?  I do not think any of us who are addicted do any harm to anyone or to ourselves.   We have the option to celebrate, rant, rave, cry, feel sad and whatever way we want to.  We do not have to put on a happy face or make up or clean the house to find a friend who knows, who understands and who will "listen".

the docs have "First, do no harm" as part of their oath.

Now, as far as the boards:  I can honestly ! think of a hell of a lot worse things to go to.  Besides, who is to say what's an addiction, and what's a "hobby".

Shelia, boy, I can relate!  I often wonder if I've run out of words, or just don't care anymore.  I only half listen to dh--he just keeps talking about negative crap: medical care, the roads, what ever.  I have run out of the positive forces that bubbled up inside of me. I gave them all away to him over the past 40 years.

I made contact with a good buddy from my single days, in fact, two over the last month.  It brought back feelings I haven't had in so long---joy, fun, grins, play.  I sure do miss ME>

I hear you there Iodine.  I'd love to go back in time to see myself in my 20's when I was 'vivacious' as someone called me back then.  I used to love getting together with female friends and having a great night out, mostly at the male of the species expense, one way or another.  I guess we all run out of repartee or it becomes a bit hard to do when the brain is smogged out with age and medication.

When I am around my kids (+ - 30's) I don't understand half their humour and when I do catch on I'm about 5 mins late.

    Sheila.
