Had endometrial biopsy today

Just wondering if anyone out there is going through the same thing I am. I'm currently at the end stages of reconstruction. Dx a year ago with breast cancer. Just had my 1 year check up with a ovarian ultrasound since my bc was hormone positive. Ultrasound showed my endometrial lining at 14.5 mm which is almost double what it should be, which led me to the biopsy today. I have another week to wait for results. After the bc dx I think I was in shock since it was the first time I was told I had cancer. This time, when I was told there was a possibilty that this could be cancer again...I was terrified! I caught the bc so early and was so lucky. Hoping to hear some of your stories.

    I am assuming you are taking tamoxifen? as you know, endometrial cancer is a rare side effect of tamoxifen. I don't believe it would be considered a metastasis or a recurrence. The ladies on the hormone therapy discussion board will probably have advice/experiences to share with you. Lets hope that this is a false alarm. however, my understanding is that endometrial cancer is much easier to detect early than ovarian cancer because it does produce clear symptoms - such as bleeding which you haven't even experienced yet, so if it is endometrial cancer,it too, like your DCIS has been caught early. As someone recently diagnosed with DCIS myself, into my third week of tamoxifen, and seeing a new ob/gyn tomorrow - specifically to lay out a plan for monitoring just such a tamoxifen-related ses, I am concerned for you, but heartened that the thickening was found and quickly biopsied.  It sounds like you are getting good care.

    I have been on tamoxifen for 2-1/2 years.  Throughout this entire time, my lining has been thick (last count I think was 11 mm).  I have had many ultrasounds and biopsies, and everything has been fine so far.  My GYN is just keeping a close eye on me.  My oncologist said that because I was put into menopause with chemo (age 48 at the time), there just wasn't anywhere for the lining to go.  How accurate this is, I don't know.  I also know I should be a little more proactive and possibly should consider a hysterectomy, but I just cannot (no coping skills left).  I have another appointment with my GYN in January, and I am sure I will have the ultrasound/biopsy again.  I think this just happens with some women.  Try not to worry too much.

    If you are on tamoxifen, it is very common to have irregular bleeding, thickened endometrium, and polyps.  I've  been on tamoxifen since 7-06, had 2 abdominal ultrasounds and several endometrial biopsies, 2 polyp removals since on tamoxifen - and 1 polyp removal before tamoxifen. Was offered ablation, which I declined.  All benign.

    Fairy, i had the exact samre thing happen to me.....I was on Tamoxifen and my uterine lining was twice what it should be and I also had a complicated mass on my ovaries and in my uterus.....I eventually passed one of the masses in my usterus...I ended up having a total hyst and ooph cause I sure wasn't ready to do the cancer thig all over again......It had only been about 6 or 7 months since my bc dx so I was totally freaking out...The endo biopsy camce back B9, thank God, so i wasn't worried about that but we didn't know until after surgery that the ovaries were B9 too....I feel so much better without those organs...I don't have to worry about them going bad too...Good luck to you, Fairy.....

    Thank you so much ladies. I will say that I am not on Tamoxifen or any other hormone. I am praying for good news. The waiting is always the hardest part. I have been married for 10 years to an amazing guy and we do not have children. Makes the decision of removing all my parts more difficult. My husband just wants me to be healthy. Not sure what to do about that. Not sure that I can keep going through all the biopsies and testing. They had to dilate me just to get the biopsy which was very, very painful. I made it through a mast and it was a tough recovery but this biopsy was pretty bad too, just didn't last as long.
