Anyone with or knows about Mouth cancer
Hi,
I founds out a while back with all my problems along with my cancers, as I heard from my onc and my reg internist to see a dentist, as back in 04 just 4 months before finally being diag w/BC I had to have all my upper teeth extracted, as the meds, methadone for years took a tole on my nice teeth I use to have, and they started to crumble etc, so I had to have all tops extracted. NOW after daily new problems my onc wanted to see my throat, and when he did he saw my bottoms which were not in good shape, and chipping and breaking, now I only have a few just in front, as the meth got to them too. And Ive been on antibiotics etc as I have had infections etc all over...along with sore throats all the time, and MANY other things ....well I saw my dentist and he said it was beyond what he could do, but referred me to a dentist who specializes in the problems I have.
I like this new dentist and he said what little l have left are not even considereedd teeth, and that is why i have lost so much weight as i cant chew, or digest food, and highly recommended extractions of the remainder of the bottom ones which are only 9 and out of 9 only 5 show, and the rest are chipped broken etc....and I read what I had to take to the surgeon, who did the work last time, he is good, not only an oral surgeon but an MD too. But he wrote in his scibbles which were hard to read to do a couple biopsies on all the bottom teeth and gums. Yes this scarres me and the cost is a bizillion, compared to what my dental insurance pays each year, yet i am lucky, that if i dont use it one year, it rolls over to the next year, they do this rollover for 4 years I think.
So this Thursday I go see the dentist and he is doing empressions on both top and bottom as the top never were fitted write, as it was a diff dentist....I am having a new one on top, but the bottom I am having 2 emplants where they drill holes and screws where they pop with presser in and dont come loose.
I am so scarred about cancer in the mouth, as I have heard of cancer in the tonsils, which after he was diag, annd he fought it all the way til about 2 mo ago we burried him, anothre use to be here on the board, and I have written her and email, and have not heard back from her, normally she would write, but i havent heard from her, I am very concerned of her outcome.
Does anyone know of mouth cancer or something to do w/the mouth? Id love to know more.
Thanks, oh and the process goes semi fast, but the bottom ones, I will have temp due to the bones, and the gums shrinking back to normal..before they do a permanent one...oh i can not waiat to have pretty teeth again, as that use to be one of my assets, now i can only eat pudding and i eat tons of popsicles, and very soft things, and my weight well I did gain a few pounds, maybe 5.
Thanks for listening and i do hope someone can have some answers, as hating any dentist, i really cant wait.
hugs
Ter

Hi heather,
sorry its taken so long to get back to bcorg, but Ive been so sick, with SO many things, I think 6 ft under might just sound so much better when i do wake up daily "again" with other ailments....as of my mouth, been to DDS and oral surgan, and this Wed, tomorrow, i had an appt for empressions for the mouth, but had to cancel as Ive been so sick with my stomach, I thought as I have bronchial asthma, i could see it now with that blue gew in my mouth 45 min and get into a coughing attack....so a couple wks ago my reg dr had a co who comes to your house sets ya up with breathing machine w/meds and puffers and rescheduled, the appt tomorrow for one at the dr office and dentist til next wed, IF I am any better...but the mouth is so ugly and eating is the pitts.
But thanks so much for answering.
hugs

sounds like the doctor/dentist saw a lot of unhealthy tissue and wants to rule it out, but also, wants to rule out "pre-cancerous", or just any abnormal or infectious changes. Pre cancerous changes are not cancer and are easily treatable.

Yes, thanks MsBliss,
thanks, as thats on my list next, once I recoop after my week stay I talked about under what someone wrote tonite about lung mets...
I am actually looking fwd to new mouth/teeth and just prior as i had been postponing getting eyes checked for long time, as age has got them, it must of been an omen they broke, so Im blind for a while and im looking as i saw tons of nurses w/the cutest glasses, and looking for a nice trim up on my hair, for first time in LONG time I see a little light at the end of my little tunnel.
as of precancerous, they are doing the biopsies to verify as even checking my lungs my mouth etc acted up, but mouth problems can get bad, as we just burried 2 of my friends w/mouth and throat/tonsil cancer....ugh.
thanks for writing
hugs
