    Bette

You have such a strong support team.  You have been and will be in my thought and prayers.  Your faith in God will help you through this.  Take it one day at a time. God bless you always!

    Hugs to all!

My first chemo infusion is over. Days of hair are now numbered.

After a 246 mile round trip to VA, it was good to sleep in my own bed

DH made a fabulous dinner, and I was able to eat because I am on Zofran.

God is in control of all my days, few or many.

    Bette,

I'm so sorry I missed you. I've been running between Hopkins and my local hospital for surgery follows, recon planning, and scans.  Are you going to be back this Thursday?

The best thing I found for constipation was miralax.  It is a powder that you can mix.  I mixed it with applesauce and that worked well for me.  Of all the things in DC, my favorite is the National Cathedral.  Not everyone stops there, but there are amazing views of DC. The cathedral itself is amazing.  Every time I go, I see something different.  Not a lot of walking, just drive up.  The Thursday evening choir is very good (my friend is in the choir :))  Non denominational.

BrandonMom. Yes, I will be back this coming Thursday and staying overnight. We may try to sightsee on Friday if it is not too hot. I wilt easily these days.

Tonight I had a scare with temp going up to 101. Tylenol did the trick, thank God. I called VA and they said that 20% of patients get fevers on the first GC cycle. Next week should be better.

Beth, I am home! Praise the Lord.

Hair loss from chemo started again today. It stinks to have to go through this again!

My oncologists say the fever thing may happen every time, and that they always have to rule out infection. If I want to fight my cancer, I have to be patient with my body's reaction.

I'm sorry you are having to go through the hair loss again. Those emotions are hard enough the first time, but to have to go through them again especially when your hair has just been growing back is cruel indeed. You have experienced this before, and you will come through it again...today is one more day of your journey...

I hope a fever does not become your treatment norm, hopefully it is a one time thing and you won't have to experience it again. Our bodies go through so much, and not all reactions are the same every time. Hopefully the SE will be minimal....

    Thinking of you...

Just returned from VA where I got my treatment and elt well enough yesterday to take the Metro into town to the National Gallery.

Praying for now more fevers. Hair loss is a lot slower this time. Not so traumatic.

I am at peace with God about whatever happens in the next days and weeks.

    BrandonMom,

I am doing much better this time! Low-grade temps over weekend, but that was all.

We are going to be back in Arlington on 9/10 for the begin of cycle 2. Interested in dinner if your coupon is still good by then!

Had a beautiful morning at nearby Longwood Gardens yesterday with Tom and my brother Ed, visiting from CA. I couldn't make it to all the things I wanted to see. Renting a scooter next time!

One doc appointment today, and then the Labor Day Weekend! Woohoo!

    Have a great one!

I can't believe it is the end of summer already. Where did it go? Kids start school on Tuesday. Will be some adjustments for them getting up early lol  Oh wait, I have to get up earlier this year too as my son is starting high school and he has a new get up earlier schedule this year lol  Luckily my daughter is very good about getting herself up and going.

Busy weekend for us, football game Saturday and the State Fair on Sunday. Don't have my kids on Monday they are with their dad, so guess I will have a quiet day, just me and laundry lol Weather is supposed to be great...I'm glad.

Hope everyone has a great holiday.

    One more week Bette....

Well the fall season and the school year are officially started! I have two medical appointments today; then I can rest.

This is a travel week for us: chemo in VA on Thursday, and a retreat for couples living with metastatic breast cancer on Friday and Saturday. We are really looking forward to the retreat, which is sponsored by the Avon Foundation Breast Center at Johns Hopkins. It is at the Bon Secours Spiritual Center in Marriottsville, MD. They only accepted 12 couples, and we got picked! I only hope that my chemo SE's do not limit my activities too much.

    Have a great week. (((Hugs)))

Bette- Guess I missed you as it is Thursday night. Hope your next chemo session gives you less SE and you don't get another fever this time. Enjoy your retreat, sounds like fun! Thinking of you....

Retreat was wonderful! The husbands contributed much, and I hope got something out of it too.

On arriving home I turned feverish and ended up in the ER by Sunday night. They let me go, but just called tonight to say they reread my chest x-ray and I have early pneumonia. So I am on antibiotics and have to get a repeat chest-x-ray next week. I may not be able to get chemo this week due to my health. This is discouraging.

    Tom is being great.

No treatment this week due to elevated liver enzymes and pneumonia. Antibiotics are starting to kick in, so my fever is gone, and feeling a bit better.

Many thanks from Tom and I for all the prayers and good wishes.

So glad to hear you had a great time at your retreat Bette. I was hoping you'd be able to have some time to enjoy life a little...some time away from just dealing with illness and not feeling well...sorry you ended up back in the hospital when you got home. Hopefully the antibiotics do their job quickly and you can resume your treatment soon. Kudos to Tom for all the ways he helps/supports you....

I am feeling fine, but unable to get chemo for the past three weeks due to liver inflammation. My ALT and AST have been on the rise for three weeks and are triple the normal values.

It's discouraging, but I know that if this doesn't work out, God still has a plan for the rest of my life.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
