Anyone have a lumpectomy, that can help with advice...?

Hoping that someone might please respond if anyone has had a very annoying breast itch following their lumpectomy longer than expected-unless this is actually normal that is. Would really love to hear that the most... :) I am now nearing closer to three months out since my lumpectomy surgery... The itch in the breast is in the area where a harder lump still exists in there (which I guess is scar tissue healing from surgery-happened after my biopsy and the lumpectomy) - the lump has started to go down though just a couple weeks ago, which is uplifting and which could explain the annoying itch... I was hopeful the itch was going away when the lump finally started decreasing in size recently, but I am going through chemo treatment now, and feel like the chemo masks the itch for a few weeks - and then it is back pretty heavy... If anyone can say this is normal and they went through it - it would really help right about now? And possibly any advise on how much longer this will go on??? After my biopsy - the lump in the breast that formed never went down prior to going in for the lumpectomy (, which was at least a good seven weeks later (it has been called a hematoma from my docs), but I don't recall having a real wicked itch there. But there is no rash or even sign of improper healing near any incision site...

P&L ;)

It has been my experience that itch usually signifies healing.  I think it is quite normal.

Im with the above poster itchy is usually a sign that nerve endings are reconnecting.  I was extremely itchy after lumpectomy and also had strange "nervy" feelings.  I cant remember how long it lasted sorry.

    Good Luck

Ditto! Lots of itching ... and various other sensations. Hot pins, achy, tingling. It may take a month or more for it all to go away.

I had my lumpectomy and SNB a month ago. Both a quite itchy especially while showering. I'm afraid to scratch the incision areas so I do my best to ignore it, but at times it's easier said than done.

Thank you all so much! Huge help!!

I guess my main problem is that I'm coming up on three months since the surgery. That's

was scaring me most... Six weeks I had thought was the standard... BUt, anyway, that's for making me feel better about it... :)
