I met my daughter and 2 grandchildren last wk for coffee and muffins in Market Square, Portsmouth, NH. Outside dining. The muffin was bigger than my 2 yr old granddaughter! And she spread a little napkin on her lap while eating. So cute. We walked down to Portsmouth Harbor just in time to see 2 tugboats bringing in a HUGE submarine and watched the draw bridge being raised to accomodate the big boats. I have never seen a submarine.
The best part was an email from my dtr that evening, saying that it is amazing how little surprises in life can be enjoyed as much by 2 year olds as 62 year olds but the best part was having me there to share the joy and excitement with them.
The sub was fantastic but the email made my day/week.

Sue thank you for sharing that special day.

kbugmom- What is the time difference between US East Coast and Okinawa?
I was thinking probably the distance between Honolulu and Okinawa is closer than we are to our children. Hope you get that phone call and let us know. It's difficult when they are so far away. My daughter says " ///mother I am still on US soil" but she could have been in Europe and traveling would have been shorter. I was born in Istanbul-Turkey and lived there until i was 20 years old. And the distance is almost the same from NY. I am sorry I carried away. But I really miss her and her wonderful fiancee, he is also from NY and he is like my own son. They went there January 2009.
-
kbugmom, you are most welcome for my sharing that special day AND I hope you get that call real soon!
-
Seyla you tell all you want. I like hearing about others family also. It is 13 hrs time difference. I find myself saying it is now so and so time there.
-
Thank You kbugmom. Did you hear from your son?
Some days everything starts building up. Today it was one of those days. Believe me I am not upset that she moved to Hawaii and its not like i saw her every day when she was in NY. Its a strange feeling. I am thankful to God she is happy, has a good job, she graduated from College 1 month after my diagnosis Social work. She is working with mentally ill patients. You see I am carrying away again, thats why I took a long walk before. I am not a complainer i don't understand what happened to me today.
Thank you thank you and thank you. For listening
-
No call yet. In the military you wait alot. I think recently he had been gone on a meu. Thats a military thing.
It does build up some days when all kinds of stuff happening plus missing them.I also have three other grown kids who live fairly close and have three grands. Hubby isn't much help.
Sounds you like you raised a wonderful daughter and the work she is doing is going to be a blessing to her. Talk away I am here for you. HUGSSSS....
