Stacy, that is fantastic about your hubby's job!
We just returned from Arlington where I got infusion #2. Feeling fine so far.
Count me in for a get-together!

Hey everyone,
Well my trip to Texas was a dissapointing one. Snake rancher flaked on us. Yes. After speaking with the vendor on Friday and rancher on Saturday morning, I had such high hopes. Don't know what happened? He was supposed to get things ready and DH & I were to meet him and go to the ranch. After 3:00 p.m. I knew he wasn't coming through. Needless to say I was very sad and let down. (Not to mention the costs). I'm just not having any luck w/these rattlers, but I'm not giving up. With chemo coming up on this Wednesday I won't be able to take the plasma until TX ends. I was really torn up on Friday but I'm okay now. Not to mention there isn't nothing much to do in Midland Texas. DH & I went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. I didn't have much of an appetite though. I must say though, people in Texas are so polite and friendly.
Corrine: Thank you for the prayers. Keep them coming! I've got a week ahead of me. I'm so happy to hear the good news on your reconstruction. I knew they could work w/you.
Gail: Thank you for the offer at your mom's home. I'm sure Austin is much nicer than Midland! It was rainy w/thunder storms on Thursday. Everyone has brick homes and the Tornado sirens are all over the highway. So many locusts too.
Deanna: I hope your son passes that kidney stone quick. My cousin had a few bad ones years ago and they put her in a tub of warm water to pass them. Is he doing that? I hear it really helps.
Deen: I was thinking of you when I was there. I would have loved to meet you too. We didn't have our laptop w/us as we were only there for 1 day. You're not kidding Texas is huge. I did see the new Cowboy stadium from the plane. I don't think I'll ever visit Midland again. Buit if I visit the coast, we'll have to meet.
Bette; I'm happy to hear you're feeling fine. Too bad I'm on the West coast. I'd love to meet you sisters on the East side.
Well it's Ixempra on Wednesday. Onc. nurse said I'll be woozy from the Benedryl. I was planning on going to work. It's also the 1st day of school for my son so I think I'll take the day off. ..I also received my Xoleda kit yesterday. Wonderful SE's. The hand & foot syndrome are particularly intriguing. Now how am I going to wear slippers to work? I guess it's starting to hit me that I'm doing this again.
Any news on Lisa or Lashon? I've been thinking of them.
Wish me luck all.
Prayers & Hugs,
Jeannine

Jeannine, sorry about your disappointing TX trip. However, I think you are on the right track with your new treatment plan. All the best as you get started!!!!!! Enjoy your son's first day of school. The kids come back tomorrow at my school.

Jeaninne, sorry I missed you. Midland is pretty far from me, and you're right, it's nowhere land! I'm also sorry they jerked you around. Most Texans are not like that at all! That just made me sick! I'm praying your chemo goes without a hitch and is over quickly.
Bette, hang in there gal! My prayers continue for you.Hope everyone has a great week!

Hey, everyone ~ Stacy ~ Great news about your DH, although I'm sure your family will be sad to have you all back East again. Bette ~ So glad the 2nd infusion is behind you, and hoping any SEs have been manageable. Misty ~ I'm sure the summer went fast for you, but I'm glad that you can slip back into the normal school year routine. Jeannine ~ Bummer about your trip to TX! But, you know, as I read your post, I couldn't help thinking that maybe it's for the best, and maybe the rattlesnake blood may have interacted badly with the new chemo. Who knows? It's certainly not something they've ever tested. And like Deen said, being stood up in Midland is very unTexas-like. If you ever go back there, please let me know and maybe I can ask my SIL & BIL who are in Ft. Davis (not too far from Midland by Texas standards) if they know anyone more reliable to provide what you're after. I'll also be praying for you especially on Wed. And thank you for the kidney stone tip! That seems like a no-brainer, but no one else (including a Naturapathic doctor he saw on Friday) has suggested it. And Corinne ~ At 103 lbs., I'm not sure how much tissue you have anywhere to give up for breast reconstruction. Are you sure implants just maybe aren't something to investigate a bit more? I hope you'll get at least one more opinion, even if you use the PS @ Yale, who sounds very skilled and caring. I'm just concerned that you weigh all of your options because Diep and all of its variations involve a huge amount of surgery and scars and healing -- maybe even too much to go through if you don't have a really satisfactory amount of tissue. (I hope you don't mind my input, but after having a Diep and having just barely enough -- I sometimes wonder if the hip-to-hip scar and rebuilt belly button were really worth it.)
Hello to Deen, Hood, Gail and everyone else who may not have posted recently. Thinking about you all ~ Deanna

To all teachers and students: Blessings on the new school year!
I have been feverish the past two days, but nothing a little Advil couldn't handle. I have to lay off the Tylenol because my liver is now inflamed. Blood sugar is up as well, probably from the steroids with the chemo, but I have ben asked to drop a few pounds, too.
Right now I am getting ready to go to my Mom's 87th birthday party. Excited to see family.

Hi all, went for my biopsy this Am/ Dr did not see a stitch but he did not see a tumor either. Sent off to pathology and will know sometime Thurs. In the meantime, I have a bone density tomorrow. Never had one of those and do not expect it to come out really great because I have been on thyroid med's for such a long time.
Jeannine: I am so sorry about your trip to Texas not being what you were hoping for/ I continue to keep you in my prayers. God knows and knew all about it and perhaps he is directing you in a different way. Lashon is on facebook and seems to continue with the chemo.
Bette: We prayed for your fever yesterday in church. I prayed for you again today!! You are such an inspiration!!!
Gotta run ... Hugs to all
-
Well girls I check the boards daily but don't always write!!! Glad everyone is doing ok - Bette hang in there - glad you are doing well..... Corrine I wish they could just tell you what that is - if it is a stitch then say so.... the waiting is killing me so I can only imagine what it is doing to you... Jeannine sorry your trip didn't go as you planned - that is a real bummer. Misty glad you are back in school and doing good. Stacy glad your hubby found a good job - they are hard to come by now a days!!!!!
Loves to all.........................

I agree with Ali-hoping for good news, Corinne!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello folks,
Tomorrow is Round 2. I'm so not ready. I've to to take my Miralax. I have no idea what to expect and just hope I won't be hailing to the porcelain Gods. But I've got to do it. I've been in a lot of pain lately. Praying this new chemo works quick.
I also went back and forth e-mails w/Snake vendor today. Such an asswipe. First he said he'd reimburse my entire trip. Then tells me he'll do so only if I fax him details on my cancer! That really did it! I was so irate. I told him my disease was irrelevant to his unprofessional business practice and none of his business. The nerve...I agree. I think not obtaining the snake plasma was a blessing in disguise.
Bette: Glad to hear you're hanging in there. Hope mom's 87th B-day was great!
Corrine: Thx. for the LaShon update. I'll have to check her out. My bro said the same thing that maybe missing out on my snake was for the best. I'm praying that your suture is just a minor flaw. I'm sure it is.
My 10 year old son's first day of school is tomorrow then it's off to chemo. Taking the day off and DH will be home. If I remember correctly, it's the next few days that stink...
Wish me luck everyone!

Good luck, Jeannine!! You will conquer Round 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-
Good luck Jeannine!!!! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!!
-
Jeaninne, sounds like you'll be very busy today! I'm praying for great results for you. Please take care of yourself.
Corinne, good luck on your bone density test. If you're as thin as you sound, you may have problems like I did(I'm not as thin as you!) It is common for thin women to have bone density problems, even without the chemo and other drugs SEs. I'm praying for you.
Bette, I'm praying for you to breeze through this! I'm sorry you're having such a hard time.
Hood, Alibug, Misty, Deanna, and all of you BC warriors, have a great week,
Deen

Jeannine, Just sent up a prayer that all is well with you today.
I am still tired, but the fevers have stopped. This is my week off from chemo! Woohoo!

Hi all, Got my pathology report today. Everything is doing well!! It was just a scar!! Yippeee!!!!
Jeannine: Today you are one day closer to being done!!! Yahoo!!! Hoping that you get through today with ease!!
Deen: I am not to worried about bone density...I feel great today ...Tomorrow has enough problems that are more important than osteoporosis
Bette: Love and hugs
-
Hi Everyone,
Wow, Stacy - Va, Pa, & Md will be able to have a big get-together when you move. That's really great about the job, especially these days.
Deanna, also sorry to hear your son is having a hard time. Sure hope that gets resolved fast. And yes, I'm feeling great. Doing lots of kayaking - my dog is learning to sit still in the kayak - most of the time, only roll it occasionally!
Bette - so glad you are better!
Hey Corinne, let us know how it's going. But screaming in the trash can is OK! Sounds like things are working out with your DR thinking of ways to make it work for you.
Deen, I am doing the things I love most - with my wonderful husband George and great friends. Was at a beautiful mountain lake yesterday and imagined you ALL there with me. Guess that's paradise for me!
Hugs to all,
Gail

Bumping us up girls!!!!!!

Hello friends,
Well so far, so good. Not much SE's here. (Amen). I was @ clinic for 3 hours! They gave me benedryl (knocked me out) then Ixempra and saline. My poor vains have had it. Nurse had to hold IV to finish. Hubby was with me and it seems all the bc girls are on hiatus now. This funny lady came in with her IV out of wack in pain. She was too loud for the Dr.! My Ixempra is $20K per TX! I couldn't believe it. By the time I'm done it'll be over $100K! This stuff better work.Onc. nurse said I'm an expensive girl!
Bette: Thank you for your prayers! I'm happy to hear your fever is gone and you have a break from chemo. (What kind are you on?)
Corrine: I just KNEW you were OKAY! See how God works? On his time. I'm so happy for you. Bet you're so relieved!
Gail: Sounds like you're having so much fun. Wish I was at the beautiful lake with you. (I'm sure a lot prettier than Midland TX).
Deanna: I hope your son is doing better. Thinking of you.
Roya: Where have you been? Haven't heard from you.
(((((Hugs))))),
Jeannine

Jeannine, I am on Gemzar/Carboplatin. The first Tx put me in the hospital; the second produced low-grade fevers. Right now, on my week off, I am just really tired.
My hair was supposed to fall out this week. So far I just had one episode with hair in the shower drain. What I have is thinner, but actually seems to be growing!
Today my brother was here from CA, and Tom and I and he went to nearby Longwood Gardens to see the beginnings of the fall flowers. We also saw a really great water lily display.

Checking in on everyone.
Bette: so happy that you are feeling well enough to go out and enjoy God's creation! you are such an encouragement to me and I know so many.
Jeannine: So glad to hear from you. We have been praying for you and will continue. Everyone in our church is also praying for you by name.
Gail: I was able to ride my horse for a little while today and had a friend come over and we bathed him and groomed him. I love my horse!! The air was nice today and it was just perfect weather to feel the air blowing through all those tiny curls on my head/
Kimberlyn, if you are reading this you continue to be in our prayers. I hope you are feeling well. I know you have been through so much this past year and have not forgotten you and the things you have gone through.
To all my bc sisters I love you and hope your week is the best ever
Hugs, Corinne

It's been a year since we started calling ourselves the "Hot August Baldies" and I am so grateful to share the experiences we have had this year. It is an honor to know you all and the feel you all there. We have really come a long way together.
Jeannine - you may be an expensive girl, and you are worth every penny & lots more! I'm glad the process has started for you. Thinking of you everyday.
Corinne so glad you're riding and grooming - it's those moments when I feel all is well.
I agree with you, Deen, I appreciate us all!
Have a great weekend & (((((hugs))))))
Gail

Deanna, my insurance has changed & I'm going to PM you for some DR recommendations in the valley. Hope you are doing great!

Ugh, not feeling so good today..The dreaded SE's have set in
. I'm not nauseous but so achy. SE's started yesterday. I'm glad I changed my appts. to Wed. so I can recover on the weekends. Thank God for Lifetime TV. (Some really good movies today).
Bette: Your chemos are an option for me too. Now let's hope we're done w/this stuff this time. You know, Dr's said we may not lose our hair this time. It's the AC that's the hair killer. Let's hope!! I hope your visit w/your brother is nice.
Thank you Gail, Misty, Deen & Corrine for the sisterly support & prayers. Even though I am now a Aug. Hot Baldy 09,You'll always be my original girls.
Wishing you all a wonderful Labor Day Weekend,
Love Jeannine

Thanks Corrine for that info. I've laid low on the walking lately but intend to get back on it very soon!
However I was happy to read the about the new KX-01 trial for us TN's. This is incredible news! That made my day.
God's hearing us.
