It's been a while since we chatted, and while I don't normally follow football, I am interested in where Michael Vick is and what he is doing. I think he is a real low life and not someone to be looked up to. I'm angry that a reputable team would give him a job. I don't think  you're into sports, but I know you love animals and am just curious about  your thoughts on the home town team.

I got very involved to make sure he did not get sponsors, commercials etc, when they found out that he was making more money from dogs fighting to dead; now we have sent email to the team that hired him that we will boycott their games and their products, we have to send a message that a person with no morality can no benefit ,never!

Many people are duing the same.

I changed my mind about Vick since the time of his arrest. I initally thought he had no place in football or walking on this earth. I've mellowed and I now believe differently. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity for redemption, including Vick. If he were a waiter, there wouldn't be a question about him going back to his profession.  Vick, if he is truly repentent, can do far more good and be a spokesperson against dog fighting and torturing animals. His behaivor was different than that of an anti-social who hurts/kills animals because of his thought process. I used to be a big football fan, but  I'm not so much any more. I am glad Donovan McNabb is mentoring Vick, McNabb is good people. I'm not saying this as a fan of his, because I don't really like him but I respect his integrity. Coach Andy Reid has 2 sons  who were in legal and substance abuse issues over the past few years. His sons were given 2nd chances and I see where he wants to give Vick one.  Heck, murderers and rapists get 2nd chances.

I disagree that there is evidence that Vick has no morality. I think what he did was horrific, but to me that doesn't necessarily equate to no morality. In many cases people who kill animals have antisocial behavior and no conscience. There is no evidence that other than these acts , Vick lacks morality.  Who's to say anyone who grew up in a similar impoverished urban environment, without adequate parental guidance where dog fighting was sport that we also would not  have to be taught empathy towards animals, Animal fighting is acceptable sport---look at bull fighting.

Time will tell whether Vick has reformed himself. I hope that he won't let people down and that he will serve as a positive role model henceforth. Animal societies have certainly gotten a lot of donations because of Vick-- which they deserve.
