I need to find a shelter for myself and my son...Starting chemo
I thought if I posted on here I might get some answers. Basically I am stage 1 I had my lumpectomy I just had my port ut in and now my husband is relapsing from his drug addiction. I have a 3 year old son. I live in queens new york. I am trying to find a safe place for myself and my son. I don't know where to begin. I am starting chemo in about a week. I am really scared because I was depending on my husband for help and he has only been messing up big time!!!!I cannot stay with him. He does not want help and he takes all of our money. He just spent our rent money this weekend and is still on a binge. I jyust want to leave so I can go through my treatment in peace. If anyone knows of any place I can call for some help I would be so gratefu. thank you and god bless

Soooo sorry you have to put up with extra stress while fighting cancer. Prayers for you and your son, and for your husband to get his act together. You need to look after you and your son right now. Your husband will have to take a back seat to what you need. If you have to leave, then do so and bless Mom2two for listing some shelters for you. There is help out there. Please search it out. You will be in my prayers for an easy journey with this, and for your husband to see what he is doing to his family. God Bless and protect you and your son.

I don't know the whole situation, but if there is abuse, or you are concerned about your physical safety contact the local battered womens shelter, police departments usually have their numbers available.

I agree with the others, get to a shelter. they will be able to help you get away from your husband while you are dealing with this illness.

Let the hospital know that you are in need of shelter, they should have resources and social workers there to help you. I am originally from Queens and I will ask my contacts if they can recommend a safe place for you.
God bless you and your son. I know it hurts when your loved one is not supportive especially during this frightening time.

I agree with Hooli, The hospital has the resources and social workers. Go to them ASAP. They are very proactive of woman in your situation...
