You have my sympathy, taxol and neulasta made me feel like I'd been run over by a truck.

If you go to the top of the page, on the far right you will see a search function.  If you type in neulasta you will find lots of posts.  You might find neupogen a bit easier on you, more injections but I found it easier to tolerate.

I had neulasta 8 times.  Each time a day after my dose dense chemo and I never had any pain from it at all.  I was told by the chemo nurses before the first one to take a claritin and an aleve (or advil) one hour before the shot and then another round a few hours later or the next day.  This seemed to do the trick because I had heard some horror stories from friends that said the flu like symtoms and bone pain were awful.  Ask your doctor or the nurses about the claritin and aleve before your next one to make sure they ok it but it worked wonders for me and other than leg pains from Taxol I avoided the body aches. Hope that helps:)

The bone pain from Neulasta was really bad!  A soak in a hot tub or a heating pad along with pain meds always helped.  The pain would last me for a couple of days.  Best of luck!

I have had two shots.  The second one, they lowered the dose.  Take something like Alive it will help.  I hate it too!   Keep your chin up   one day at a time

    Hey all!

I have just made it through 4 rounds of A/C followed by Neulasta each time.  My first treatment, the side effects were awful.  I had read about the Claritan and Aleve, but completely forgot to take it the day of the shot.  I ended up in the hospital with such a bad headache that I could hardly move.

The following three treatments, I took the recommended daily Claritan and stayed on
Aleve every 8 hours with my Zofran for nausea.  Other than 18 to 36 hours of flu-like aches and pains (about 15-20% worse than the normal flu aches and pains) I did pretty good.  My chemo was on Thursday, my shot on Friday and somewhere between Friday evening and Saturday morning the symptoms would start.  I just stayed strong taking my meds, ate my meals as much as I normally could, and napped when I felt like it.  Which was about 1-2 hours for every 6.  The pain, for me, was generally done by the time I woke on Sunday.  However, in it's wake was sheer exhaustion for about the next 48-72 hours.

My company has been gracious in allowing me to work from home on those days, so that I can save my PTO for surgery.  The reason I take them up on it, is because just the walk from the car to the building is quite taxing.

I will start Taxol tomorrow for 4 rounds every two weeks, still followed by the Neulasta.  We shall see how these side effects differ from those.

Good luck and stay strong.  You can do it.
