Herceptin movie
Most of you may already know about this movie, but in case there are those who do not, it is called Living Proof. It stars Harry Conick Jr as the person who fought very hard to get the drug companies to cooperate as well as many other trials and tribulations he went through while fighting for our miracle drug and for us. I only just learned about it myself. It has been on before. It will be on the Lifetime channel October 18 at 8:00 p.m. I am told it is really good.
Hugs,
Janie

The movie is good. You can also get it on netflix if you are a member. Annette

The movie is ok, but doesn't quite tell the story accurately.
The book is a more even-handed account of the development of Herceptin. It's called, "Her2."

Thanks, everyone, for your posts. I've put the movie in my Netflix queue, and I've put the book on my library list.

Hey all,
Was just looking around the Lifetime site and couldn't find the movie listed on the 18th. I did see, however, that it will be showing this Thursday, Oct. 8th on the Lifetime Movie Network. I finished Herceptin treatment in June 2008 and watched this movie last October. Was amazed at what this doctor had to go through. I always think of this when I'm trying to raise money for race for the cure, relay for life, etc....
If you have gone or are going through Herceptin treatment, I definitely recommend this movie!
Living Proof
October 8 at 8 pm and 12 am et/pt on LMN
"Living Proof" is the true story of oncologist and researcher Dr. Dennis Slamon, the UCLA doctor who helped develop the breast cancer drug Herceptin, and his effort to keep the drug trials afloat. His inspiring journey shows the sacrifices he makes in his personal life and the obstacles that he faces to get the drug approved. Thousands of lives have been saved because of his dedication. (Based on Robert Bazell's book "Her-2.") Renée Zellweger, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, and screenwriter Vivienne Radkoff are the executive producers.
