HunkyD  did you like I Love You Man...I really enjoy Paul Rudd.

Wyoming...you are going back already..it seems like this summer is zipping by.

Kelly.... hoping you are doing well.

Bonnie ...my hair is that long as well.  Did your come in curly or did you already have curly hair??  Mine is quite curly but it is wash and wear which I love.

Leggy....How are you doing....  I am at work and I am DAT...

Working for a living is harder than I thought... forgot what we all have to put up with everyday.   I am acting dumb alot so they don't ask me to do so much.    Will be camping again the labour day weekend in Killbear...can't wait for that.

    Enjoy the day.

    Hi Girls,

It's so nice of you all to keep me in your thoughts!    Saw my therapist, today, and really felt better afterwords, for the first time.  She has let blab on and on for the first five sessions, and this time she had some really good suggestions. One was swimming, which I haven't done since college, and that's been On My God, thirty years...She also, suggested I email my GP and see about seeing a physical therapist at least a few times, and get some exercises for the old bones.  Let's see, get some Advil, and switch it up with the Tylenol, so that I'm not taking, the tylenol everyday.  Feel better, about my appearance, which will probably be the most difficult, since I still see myself as this ninety yr. old bald man, in the mirror.  OK, I forget if there's anything else, but it helps to write it down.  Oh yeah, find time to have some fun.  That's tough, when your working all the time, huh KKing.

Kelly, my prayers are still with you, wish I was going to Ireland with you.  My family, on my Mom's side all came over from Cork, like most everyone did, during the Potato Famine. We're Scottish and English though.

Did anyone's hair come back salt and pepper, mine did, and is curlier than before?  I have'nt colored yet.  Still waiting to see, when it will change.  I have noticed more hair in the sink, the last few weeks, and it's lightening up some.

    Take Care, Everyone!

Hi Everyone,  It sure is nice to come on here and get to hear what everyone has to say. Yes, I finally got my avatar that I wanted on here with the help of my brother. I guess the picture was to large and that is why I couldn't get it on here, so he made it smaller for me and bingo it worked.  My hair did come in curly at first and it still does have some curl though I have to use a curling iton on it now. I also had to color it because for some strange reason it came in a ugly gray color. lol - was hoping to return to my original color before going gray but it didn't work

Feel sorry for all of you that have to return to work although I think that maybe it is better than sitting around not knowing what to do with yourself. I have lots I want to do just no energy to do it.  Only 3 more treatments of Herceptin to go, sure will be glad when that is done. I am so sore in my arms, neck, and shoulders. Not sure if it is the Herceptin or the Tamoxifen that is making my so sore all the time.

Well better stop rambling on and get to bed, wishing the best for all of my good friends on here.

    Hi ladies

Haven't posted for a while, but the update on me is that I just had my nine-month post chemo bloodwork on two differnet tumor markers.  One is the breast cancer test and the other one is for hard tumors.  Both were normal YEA!!.  Hope all of you are doing well.

    LOL

    Good news, Sandy!

Bonnie, I'm on Tamoxifen, and everything hurts, but I've got to admit a lot of the ache's and pains, were there before, just not all at once, and for such a prolonged amount of time.  During chemo. a lot of pain in my legs and hip, got worse with the shots I had to give myself, following each treatment. It's just all this STUPID BC, with getting old at a rapid pace.  I think it aged me 10years, in one.

Bonnie it looks like you have more hair than I do. My hair is at a length I have had it cut. I just don't have very much. My curl is gone but I do have a little more body.

Kelly hope you are feeling better. How did everything go? Do over do.

HunkyD don't you just love fresh corn on the cob. Don't over work and keep heat stick on handy.

Karen what do you do at work? I say play dumb when ever you need too. We might go camping on Labor day also.

LeggyJ what have you been up too lately?

Kelly hope you are feeling pretty good. How have things been?

I went school shopping yesterday and actually bought some clothes. I usually bring home for hubby and grand kids but nothing for myself. It is windy and cold today. Hubby had to go out of town until tomorrow so I have the house to myself. I think I will have popcorn for dinner.

    Take care,

Hi ladies....glad to hear all the latest.  KKing....I did like the movie I Love You Man.  Wish they would start releasing the new movies faster.

Sounds like we all have our aches and pains.  I don't know if mine is radiation leftovers or Tamoxifen or both, or just the fact I was thrown into menopause in a hurry.  Wyoming...I am glad you told me about those patches.  I have been using them and they do help.  Glad you had fun back to school shopping.  Can you wear casual clothes, or do you have to dress up?  I can wear jeans to work and tee shirts so I have it made.

Bonnie and Leggy, I am sorry you are experiencing the same pain I am, but am relieved to hear some other people complain about their aches.  I do think the tamoxifen might be a catalyst to all the arthritic symptoms we have.  Leggy, loved the 10 years in one analogy.  I agree totally.  I have been on more Advil, Aleve, pain pills...etc this last year than I have taken my entire life. Surgeries don't help the matter either.  More dental work on teeth next week.  I think chemo had an effect on them too.

Kelly, I hope you are recovering.  I hope you are getting good care.  Still got my fingers crossed that they got good margins.

I don't know what we are going to do on labor day.  Probably nothing exciting.

SanDeeLou....congrats on the good checkup.  You can't beat that feeling.

Well, guess that's all for now....happy hump day!  Hunkydory

Work, work, and more work...now it's nearly time for bed, so I can wake up at 2am to pee.  HunkyD, I know what ya mean, I never used to get sick, now it's wow for about an hour I felt almost normal, oh it must be time to take a pill. Night all.

SanDeeLou happy to hear you had good results. It is always nerve racking waiting.

Kelly Keeping fingers crossed that you are getting well.

Bonnie, LeggyJ, and HunkyD, I too have aches that I haven't had before. Since I'm still in treatment I tell myself that it can't be cancer. It is amazing how much we worry about every little thing. My palettes were so low that I can't floss my teeth right now and it is driving my crazy. HunkyD I think chemo is hard on teeth. Mine ache more than normal. I get to wear pretty causal clothes to work and on the last day of the week I can wear jeans (my favorite type of clothing).

Popcorn tasted so good last night and I didn't have to share. Hubby may have to stay an extra night out of town, Don't tell him but I'm kinda glad to have the house to my self.

    Take care,

    Wyoming

Wyoming, you be careful with your low platelet count.  I know you can bleed so easily.  I like to floss too, but I almost always go after an area a little too hard and my gums bleed.  About the chemo and teeth, my dentist told me that radiation therapy (scatter) causes the salivary glands not to function as well, and can cause hell with teeth.  He said radiation is supposed to be very precise but he believes when they do a field towards the neck like I had, it will likely affect those glands.  Don't know if thats true but in any event....I have some trips to the dentist ahead.  Who knows.

I am tired tonight.  Husband is gone to mens golf night so I have house to myself also.  I have already showered and am in my sweats.  Ahaaaaa....now I can rest.  One more day of work.  XXOO to all of you....HunkyD

Wyoming...I work as a business teller at the Royal bank.  I told them I can't lift boxes of coins now and I keep using the statment "I don't remember that"......seems to be working.  We have  a dress code but can dress business casual on Friday.

    Great news Sandee Lou.

HunkyD...funny you talk about teeth,  my teeth seem to be falling apart literally.  Each time I go to the dentist he wants to change a filling and when he attempts it, the tooth seems to disintegrate...I think I am due for a new set of teeth.

Also, my one leg causes me trouble all the time...I can't lift it without pain to put on my pants.  The doc did an xray on the hip area and it seems okay.  She said slight scoliosis of the spine.  I know that is curvature of the spine so that is probably just another thing I have.

Well I must say, working is taking up all my time....not liking that too much.   Well thank God tomorrow is Friday.

To all the Junies,   Enjoy the weekend.

Hi everyone,  I am back home again.  I am pretty sore and tired but still hope to go on my trip next week.  My mom has been here as well taking care of me so that has been a treat.

Upcoming weekend is to be very hot so will sit in the shade and watch my daughter play.  Both my big boys are off at school and happy so that makes me happy.

Everyone tell us what you are doing this weekend.    Kelly

My weekend plans are to paint some watermelon slices on fabric for a quilt top I am planning on making.  Can't find the size slices I want to use so I just have to do my own.  Still not too sure about the leaves thought, in a way they look like oversized hands that have been stretched a bit.

    LOL

Kelly, welcome back.  It is 97 here now and will also be hot tomorrow, but it is supposed to drop to the 70's by Sunday.  Glad your mom is there to help you.  Rest is a powerful healer after surgery.  I envision you as one who doesn't like to be idol very long, but I hope you can enjoy the rest, and your vacation. We have no plans for the weekend that I am aware of.  I am perfectly content with my air conditioned home and a few light chores.  I have really been dragging getting out of bed in the mornings, so the weekends I hope my body lets me sleep in. I hope everyone has a great weekend.  XXXOOO Hunkydory

My doctor sent a home nurse today to change my dressings.  Strange but nice.  I have only been aware of home health for elderly patients.

My little girl got a new (used) piano today and has been "playing" all night.  She is already more musical than her mother!     Kelly

    Hi Kelly,

Great to hear from you again!  My Mom had a home nurse, when she had a knee replacement, and one of them was my former bosses, soon to be ex wife.  So I came out of hiding in my room, to say hello, which was great since I was going through chemo., at the same time, and she spoke to us about depression, and had some advice.  Can't think of her advice though, thanks to chemo....but it was good.  Cute about your daughter, sounds like you have a lovely family, and they will be there for you.

Today, I went to a Walmarts, and while walking out several tall good looking men (middle aged the way I like up) smiled at me and said hello, they were not together, but one after another BIG smiles, well I said to myself, Girl You Still Got It Going ON!  Then while getting back in my truck, I noticed my shirt was unbuttoned right between my breasts.....Somehow I still think they were looking at my eyes....Ha Ha  Anyway, it made me feel better.  Then I went to In and Out, and pigged out, Yummy burger and fries.  I forgot how good a burger can taste, last time I was there was two days before my last chemo., and my red blood count was so low I had to get a transfusion.  The burger didn't help then, and it had very little taste.  Oh Thank God, for taste buds!!!!!!!!!!

    Take care, Ya'all

Leggy, sounds like you had an UP Day!  Those are always great.  We watched Taken last night and really liked it.  Can't remember who recommended it but thanks!  No movies tonight.

Kelly, I know about the dressing changes with my last surgery.  It is very nice that you get home nurse.  My husband did mine and I know I could never have done it myself.  Hope everyday gets better for you.  I was very lazy today and don't feel guilty about it at all.  I did change sheets and one load of laundry.  I'm learning to listen to my body, and not worry about what everyone else might think.  It's a hard path to follow.  Steaks, baked potatoes, and fresh corn on the cob tongiht.  Wyoming...I will be flossing my teeth after this meal.  All the rest of my June friends...sleep well,...I think about you all so often.  HunkyD

Kelly...great to hear you are alright.  I am sure you are looking forward to your vacation.  Make sure to rest...like HunkyD said it is very healing.

Well, I visited my cousin and wife yesterday...They are retired and just sold their home and bought a condo....It is so nice to be around a couple that is so happy together and to see they are enjoying their retirement.  They are going to travel 3 months to Myrtle Beach.   All I could think was I want to retire early so I can enjoy myself.  I think people work way too long and many times they don't get the time to enjoy themselves.  So I am working on a plan to do that....my DH will be looking at me like I am nuts...he assumes we will both be working until we are 60 or 65.  I say HELL with that.   I guess I am rambling but I think it is important for all of us.

Besides that, I am just lazing this weekend.   Talk to you all in the week.

Kelly welcome home!!! Make sure to rest but have fun on vacation.

LeggyJ take all the smiles, any way you can!!!!!!!

HunkyD sleep as much as you can.

SanDeeLou sounds like you are a creative person. I have tried to make a quilt on my own and lets say that I'm not a detail person.

Karen I'm with you, I would like to retire tomorrow if I could. I'm 3 1/2 years older than my hubby so I will be able to retire first.

I start school tomorrow. Kids won't be there until next week. Mainly I have meetings and getting my room ready. I'm sure I will be tired. I have enjoyed this summer way too much.

Talk to everyone later. If I missed some one hope everything is going well.

I very much have the retirement itch Karen.  I can't yet due to the fact I would lose my insurance.  I am not at my minimum retirement age yet with years of service in.  It sucks.  I guess if I was idle every day, I might go nuts with worry anyway.  Wyoming, I am wishing you the best of luck with the new school year.  Hope you have a great class.  As teacher of the year, I know that you excel at managing a classroom.  Kelly, hope you are resting well.  We all look forward to hearing about your trip!  Bonnie, have you thought any more about reconstruction?  Leggy, keep Wolfie in line and enjoy the sense of taste you have now.  Some of us are almost one year out from our last chemo infusion, and some have already surpassed that.  Happy Anniversary to all.  I think Wyoming and I were about the same time as well as vinogal.  We have not heard from that spunky little gal for so long.  I hope you are OK Vino.....if you are still reading.   Love and think about you all everyday!  I am hoping to meet some of you some day, some how!  HunkyD

HunkyD, yes I am still considering reconstruction but I need a referral from my GP and he keeps saying lets wait a while, I guess it is because of my complaints about cramping and pain in my arms, hands, feet, legs and other places.  I saw my Onc. yesterday and he took a bunch of blood work and sending me for another bone scan. So we will see what happens.

Yes, everyone it is nice to retire for awhile but you must keep yourself busy, I have lots of interests such as sewing, quilting, cross stitch, reading, ceramics, gardening and love to travel when I am able to  due to the cost.  There are days when I think it would be nice to be working again, but then there are days that I think thank god I am not working and can just lay around.

Everyone, the best medicine I have found is laughter although sometimes you feel like there is nothing to laugh about but try it, it really works.  Everyone take care and I also wish I could meet you all in person, I was trying to remember where everyone is from so I could figure out in my head if that would be at all possible at some time.

Got to go now and everyone have a nice day

Had a good first day of work, no kids so that helped. I'm DAT. All I did was meetings and got my room organized. Of course the weather was great today and I couldn't enjoy it.

Bonnie and HunkyD I would love to meet everyone sometime. We all need to start buying lottery tickets to win a million or the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes. Bonnie if you haven't guessed but I'm from Wyoming. I live in Gillette in the northeast corner of the state.

Kelly hope you are enjoying your trip.

Karen and LeggyJ hope your week is going well.

    Talk to you later,

Bonnie, it was my rads doctor that gave me the referral. Did you talk to your oncologist about it? I haven't had my reconstruction yet as when you see Dr. Taylor he gives you a rough idea of when he thinks you will be ready. For me it is sometime after October and they will call me when they have it scheduled. My appointment with him was back in March so he does give you lots of time and if you change your mind all you have to do is let him know. Some days I am still torn on it but I am hoping after I can put this behind me and move on. I think your GP should respect your wishes so that you can at least consult with Dr. Taylor as it can take awhile to get an appointment with him. I did have a CT scan on Monday as I have been having pain in the mastectomy area since late May. They think it might be some damage from the rads and then it can be cleared up with some steroids. Hopefully it is nothing else or there goes my reconstruction for awhile. One day I will get up to Croften....

    Take care.
